Description (Specifications)[edit]

The Luriani Cultural Association (LCA) is the primary governing body of the Luriani sophont species, a minor human race.

The LCA concentrates most of its efforts on facilitating regular exchanges between Luriani worlds, through cultural events and a subsidy of Luriani migrating caravans. It also provides governmental services for Luriani worlds which are either unwilling or unable to do so themselves.

Linguistics[edit]

The primary language is Aaca. Secondary languages include Sistena, Vennalin, and Opinwa.

Verasti Dtareen -- see Demographics, below -- speak a variant of Anglic known as Luriani Anglic or "Lurglic", while the Mmarislusant retain their language of Old High Vilani. The Luriani Cultural Association expends considerable effort to ensure that all three languages remain in use.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

The Third Imperium does not permit multi-system powers within its border, but the Luriani Cultural Association has unusual guarntees, a consequence of the difficult process of bringing the Luriani into the Imperial fold. Its mix of Luriani, Terran, and Vilani culture is protected by Imperial laws, and operates as an internal alliance with significant political and economic power.

Demographics[edit]

A significant minority of the cultural Luriani population are biological Solomani or Vilani. The Solomani, known as Veresti Dtareen (Terran Defenders) descend from Terran soldiers and administrators of the Rule of Man stranded during the Long Night, while the Vilani are known as Mmarislusant (Victims of History), and descend from stranded Vilani colonists. Both groups have absorbed much of Luriani culture and are seen both by themselves and the natives as being genuine Luriani. Outwardly, the Mmarislusant seem close to the Vilani norm, and even speak an archaic dialect of Vilani, but they are Luriani at heart. Both Mmarislusant and Verasti Dtareen are heavily over-represented in administrative and military careers.

The migratory Wurlana are another important demographic subdivision of the Association.
