Laruu has a tainted or unbreathably thin atmosphere and very little surface water. The system supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Ushra Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Laruu, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. 100% of the world's population is the Minor Race Hamaran. During the Long Night this world was named Khidderna.

Astrography and planetology[edit]

Laruu is a dustbowl of a planet, all water is locked deep underground.

History and background[edit]

A small settlement of Hamaran and humans were established here during the Civil War to act as a supply Naval Depot, but were apparently forgotten. When the settlement was rediscovered forty years later the entire human population had been wiped out by unknown means and only a small clan of Hamaran survived. They refused to leave and a small settlement remains.

In 976, due to extensive inbreeding, the population was on the road to extermination and the Imperial Navy stepped in to ship the surviving families back to civilization. Only one family refused to leave and they now maintain the nearly automated port. Fortunately the family now actively encourages cross-fertilization with visiting Hamaran.

World Starport[edit]

Laruu has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Technology Level[edit]

Laruu possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government[edit]

Laruu is governed by a Corporate Polity with a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. A company town, or world. The typical corporate run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
