Kagur has a population between 10,000 and 10 million sophonts, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. The governance of this world is from Larmige (Dagudashaag 2709). This is a high technology world with available technology over the standards for Charted Space. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Iiradu Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Kagur, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. During the Long Night this world was named Guduu.

Astrography and planetology[edit]

Kagur is a member of the Iiradu Trace.

Of the few worlds in the system, three are baked by close proximity to the main star Tamaran, while Kagur sits far out in the system toward the second star Ynitar. The planet's frozen surface is composed of methane ice and cyanide compounds. The surface has a reddish hue from the sun's weak rays. Few inhabitants venture onto the surface and all the habitation domes have extremely tight decontamination regimens.

Kagur's orbit is sufficiently elliptical that every 37.4 years it passes close enough to Tamaran to heat up the surface, causing geysers of methane and cyanide to erupt. This lasts about 2.6 standard years. Locally this is known as the Misting, the eruptions give the planet a thin, toxic atmosphere that gradually freezes back onto the ground.

During the Misting the planet gets its only tourism — generally the rich or the foolish who want to see the eruptions of the geysers. Between the geysers and the seismic activity, the surface becomes a very dangerous. There have been many instances of individuals or entire parties lost.

History and background[edit]

Although Kagur is noted as being a fairly well populated world, the majority of its inhabitants would happily swap their current abode for somewhere offworld.
