Jurtin is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and are both non-agricultural and nonindustrial in nature.
- These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- They require extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- The worldlets are, for the most part, unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- These worldlets have very few prospect for economic expansion.
- It is a member of the Enlightened in the Utt Subsector of Halcyon Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.

System Data[edit]
Knell-Jurtin System[edit]
The primary is Knell, a dim red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.0025 Sols, a mass of 0.244 Sols, and a diameter of 334,000 km. (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) a trace atmosphere worldlet, (III) a exotic atmosphere bigworld, (IV) the Jurtin Main Belt, designated the mainworld, (V) a ringed very large gas giant, (VI) a dense rocky planetoid belt, and (VII) a trace atmosphere iceworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(IV) Jurtin Main Belt[edit]
(IV) the Jurtin Main Belt orbits Knell within the outer system and is designated the mainworld. It lies at a mean distance of 1.1 AU from the star and is primarily made up of carbonaceous bodies with diameters of less than 100 km. The inner edge of the belt, with a higher concentration of nickel-iron bodies, is considered to lie at around 0.8 AU from Knell and the outer edge of the belt, with a higher concentration of icy bodies, is considered to lie at approximately 1.4 AU. The main inhabited body is named Haven, with a mean orbital distance of 0.89 AU around the star and an orbital period of 1 year 256 days. It has a long axis of 350 km, a density of 3.65 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.018 G. It retains no atmosphere and has no hydrographics. Mean surface temperature: -115°C in sunlight, -190°C in shadow.
Native lifeforms[edit]
No world in the Jurtin system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
No information yet available.
World starport[edit]
Jurtin has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level[edit]
Jurtin possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World government[edit]
Jurtin is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
