Irale class Brigade Transports have Jump-4 range and 4 G acceleration, but suffer from lower agility. They were designed to transport a complete brigade of the Gimgir Subsector Imperial Army. They are used for transporting regular army infantry and not imperial marine formations drawn from high population worlds within the subsector. The brigade is commanded by a brigadier general who is stationed aboard each vessel of this class, and is responsible for the brigade's ground operations. This is part of the unique military traditions within the Gimgir Subsector Imperial Army Legion. They travel in groups of eight ships, in the AssaultRons of the 156th Fleet where they serve. Their defenses include light armor cladding over certain vital systems, to avoid catastrophic critical hits. They have ten repulsor bays and the best available meson screens and nuclear dampers. They are streamlined for ocean refueling if need be, with scoops and refineries. They carry 100 turrets grouped into ten batteries of triple beam lasers, ten fusion gun bays, ten particle accelerator bays, and sixty nine missile bays for planetary bombardment. They also feature a light, spinal mounted meson gun to dissuade enemy vessels. They carry ten 50 ton modular cutters to help deploy troops and vehicles to the surface. They have 1,000 drop capsules for orbital assault. The cargo bay is usually packed with the units vehicles and supplies. The 100 low berths are usually reserved for the most critically wounded soldiers, until they can be evacuated to military hospital facilities.
