Gunn supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. This world is designated an Amber Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions make it dangerous to visitors. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Sword Worlds Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Gunn, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world.
- This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
- Gunn is a member of the Spinward Main.
Astrography & Planetology[edit]
Gunn has a solitary primary star.
- It is a red main sequence named Tacneto.
Monostellar System[edit]

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x6 secondary rocky worlds.
- x2 gas giants – the largest and innermost, orbiting at 0.67 AU, is named Tulia.
- Its largest moon is a vacuum world named Fasco.
Orbital Data[2][edit]
Gunn, designated as the mainworld, orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.
- It lies within the zones colder outer H- region.
- It receives lower levels of stellar energy.
- The world orbits beyond the stars Jump Shadow.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Gunn is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Gunn has a pressure of 0.43 to 0.70 atmospheres. While the thin atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
- The surface of the world has elevated radiation levels.
Gunn has an abiotic oxygen atmosphere. Oxygen is produced by photocatalytic conversion of surface materials (chiefly titanium dioxide (TiO2)) by stellar energy.
- Fresh surface material is constantly exposed through processes such as seismic activity and erosion.
- The oxygen rapidly depletes from the atmosphere through oxidization with reactive surface materials: a rough equilibrium between oxygen production and depletion exists.
- The percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere varies according to the density of global cloud cover.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Gunn has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Satellites[edit]
Gunn retains a tiny planetoid moon named Sargo.
- It orbits at a few diameters.
Geography and Topography[3][edit]
A basic map of Gunn, the nominated mainworld of the system, showing major bodies of water, large landmasses, major highland regions, and the polar icecaps.
- A permanent Coriolis storm lies on the equator.
Climate[4][edit]
Gunn is a cold world.
- The world experiences low temperatures.
- Much of the surface is covered in frost, ice, snow, and glaciers.
- The seas are littered with pack ice and unstable icebergs.
Coriolis Storm[edit]
The Coriolis Storm is a huge and ongoing oceanic meteorological event that straddles Gunn's equator. It is created and powered by a combination of the Coriolis effect, the large daily temperature variations, and the world's minimal axial tilt. It measures around 650 km in diameter with the highest recorded wind speeds within it reaching 480 kph, though generally they are substantially slower.
- The Coriolis Storm is characterized by powerful winds, torrential rain, and destructive hail.
- The water within the area of the storm is constantly agitated and will not freeze.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
The world is not known to have native life.
- The world may once have harbored primitive microbial lifeforms.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Gunn has practically no magnetic field and is subject to unhealthily high levels of stellar radiation.
It is a frontier mining camp with a dangerous environment, hence the amber travel zone Travellers' Aid Society classification. [5]
Evidence suggests that Gunn was overtaken by a natural disaster within the last 30,000 years, likely a series of catastrophic flares emitted by the star.
- This event may have extinguished any life native to the world.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Gunn has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Population (P)[edit]
Gunn has a population of 60 sophonts (tens).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without significant outside assistance. This may represent a transient population such as the crew of a starship, the final survivors of a dying colony, an advance team setting up to receive colonists, or a small outpost where establishing a colony is not the primary objective.
The entire population are employees of Sternmetal Horizons, in the process of establishing a mining operation on the planet.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Gunn possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Gunn is governed by a Corporate Polity with a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. A company town, or world. The typical corporate run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
- The Imperial Megacorporation Sternmetal Horizons controls the world.
World Law (L)[edit]
Gunn has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.
- Sternmetal security personnel monitor and protect corporate facilities and sites.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]
Gunn, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.
Imperial responsibility over Gunn is in the remit of Baron Elwyn Huelcyn-Aadarkhi, of Caladbolg.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -3 (very unimportant)
Despite a lack of ferric and other magnetic metals, the world has substantial deposits of lead, tin, copper, rare earths, and also some gemstones.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 5 (scarce)
- Labor: 0 (none available)
- Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
- Efficiency: -5 (extremely poor)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 1 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 1 (extremely xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 1 (very typical)
- Symbols: 3 (very concrete)
World Timeline[edit]

- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
