Gunin is a low-population vacuum world, with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in population size, warranting hazardous environment precautions.

  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Alasim Subsector of Halcyon Sector.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

System Data[edit]

Vurad-Gunin System[edit]

The primary is Vurad, an ordinary red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.0136 Sols, a mass of 0.3626 Sols, and a diameter of 551,000 km. (I-I) a vacuum worldlet, (I-II) a trace atmosphere worldlet, (II) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (III) Mulig, an exotic atmosphere radworld: (IIIa) Gunin is its only satellite and is designated the mainworld, (IV) a small gas giant, (V) a small ice giant, and (VI) a vacuum iceworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

(III) Mulig[edit]

(II) Mulig (UWP Y6A0000-0) is designated a radworld. It orbits Vurad at a mean distance of 0.67 AU (56.8 million km), within the outer system. It has an orbital period of 142 days 2 hours and a rotation period of 44 hours. The axial tilt is 49 degrees. Mulig has a diameter of 9,792 km, a density of 5.77 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.80 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Exotic, with a mean surface pressure of 0.78 bar and a composition of 91% nitrogen (N2), 7% carbon dioxide (CO2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% water vapor (H2O), abiotic oxygen (O2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), carbon monoxide (CO), radon (Rn), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The world has relatively high levels of background radiation: emission rates exceed 25 rads per hour. The world has no hydrosphere. Mean surface temperature: -113°C. The climate is rated as Frigid and experiences major seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is dynamic and strong weather systems driven by the star sweep across the globe.

Satellites[edit]

Mulig retains two natural satellites, a tiny vacuum worldlet named Aro and Gunin, designated the mainworld:

(IIIa) Aro (UWP YS00000-0, orbiting at 8 Diameters/80,000 km)
(IIIb) Gunin (designated the mainworld, orbiting at 25 Diameters/245,000 km)

Mainworld Data[edit]

(IIIa) Gunin[edit]

(IIIa) Gunin is the outer of the two major moons of (III) Mulig and is designated the mainworld. It orbits its parent world at a mean distance of 25 diameters (245,000 km), with an orbital period of 15 days 0 hours: it is tidally locked to Mulig. The axial tilt is 3 degrees relative to Mulig. Gunin has a diameter of 1,022 km, a density of 4.43 g/cm³ and a surface gravity of 0.06 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Mulig cause occasional geological activity. The world has no hydrosphere. The atmosphere is rated as Vacuum. Mean surface temperature: -145°C.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

Total surface area: 3.3 million km²

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Vurad-Gunin System[edit]

No world in the system is known to have native life.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

No information yet available.

World starport[edit]

Gunin has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World technology level[edit]

Gunin possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World government[edit]

Gunin has no central government for the world, an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
