History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Founded in 59 by the Grand Duke of Kalradin, an expatriated Sylean noble fleeing the Pacification Campaigns of Emperor Artemsus. By self-proclamation, subsequent rulers of the Duchy of Kalradin became Grand Dukes, and the Duchy was named the Grand Duchy of Kalradin. A reconciliation with the Imperium began in the rule of Margaret I and has subsequently led to a reestablishment of diplomatic ties between the Third Imperium and the Grand Duchy. The Grand Duchy currently retains its autonomy but is closely allied to the Third Imperium.
A major reason for autonomy is that the Grand Duchy allows psionics and psionic training as it did not undergo the Psionics Suppressions of the Imperium. The Imperium currently is using the Grand Duchy as a covert training ground for psionics to deal with the Zhodani
