Starships are designed with the Classic Traveller format, using High Guard Shipyard v1.13 written by Andrea Vallance. |
The Gauntlet class Strike Cruiser is a medium warship.
- It is a military ship and a Strike Cruiser.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
It is a vessel with 3-G and J-3 performance with a partially streamlined close structure hull. They are capable of 3 Gs acceleration and have Jump-3 range. They have a partially streamlined close structure hull with medium to light armor. They are equipped with fuel scoops and fuel purification refineries for wilderness gas giant refueling operations.
- It carries heavy armament and a military defensive suite. Build around a factor D spinal mounted meson gun as their premiere ship killing weapon, their seven heavy missile bays account for a substantial number of kills. A single battery of triple sand caster turrets and a single repulsor bay are the only concessions to defense on these offensively minded vessels. Light meson and nuclear dampers with back ups do their part. As single battery of pulse laser turrets, selected for their enhanced damage causing abilities, a single battery of fusion guns and a single particle accelerator bay round out the offensive weapons array. Redundant computers, Nuclear Dampers and Meson Screens contribute to their vaunted durability and ability to absorb hits and keep fighting.
- It ordinarily carries several subcraft, ship's vehicles, and drones when needed. They carry a single 20 dton Longboat as an interface and service craft.
- It has a 271 sophont crew and 30 marines. They have 271 crew which includes a small marine platoon drop capsule equipped for orbital insertion. Spartan, cramped quarters are the common expectation aboard these military vessels.

Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
This class of Sword Worlds Confederation Strike Cruiser is seen deployed in the Joyeuse Fleet.
Class Naming Practice/s & Peculiarities[edit]
Vessel Peculiarities: The vessels were known for old fashioned air filters back-ups that often turned on due to a persistent and not permanently reparable ship computer glitch that leaves most ships of this class with a persistent odor in-between a natural wood camp fire and gun powder. Many crews welcome the smell of the air filters over the smells of their fellow crewman caused by some of the smallest, most cramped, claustrophobic crew quarters known in Charted Space. [3]
Class Naming Practice/s: Most Gauntlets are named after pieces of historical or contemporary personal armor. These are no to be confused with another class with the same name, due to a lack of creativity or flattery this class was named after a popular and famous class of Gauntlet class Battlecruisers built by Gram (world).
