Description (Specifications)[edit]
Fomalhaut's primary (Fomalhaut A) is a blue-white main sequence star, with a yellow-orange BY Draconis-type variable main sequence companion star (Fomalhaut B, also known as TW Piscis Austrini) lying at a distance of 0.28pc from the primary star. A second very far companion of spectral type M4 V, Fomalhaut C (also known as LP 876-10) also shares a common proper motion with the system, despite its distance of 0.77pc from the primary.
- Fomalhaut A is surrounded by several debris disks. The inner disk lies at about 0.1 AU from the star, with the inner edge of a second disk lying at 0.4-1.0 AU from the star. The outermost disk lies at a distance of 133 AU in a belt about 25 AU wide (and is sometimes referred to as "Fomalhaut's Kuiper belt").
- Fomalhaut C is surrounded by its own debris disk.
The Fomalhaut star system is approximately 7.7pc from Terra, and is located in a Coreward/Corespinward direction from Terra at bearing 020.5o Galactic Longitude and -64.9o South Galactic Latitude.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
