The star Epsilon Cygni (otherwise known as Gienah) is a yellow-orange star of spectral type K0 on the borderline between the subgiant and giant phase of stellar evolution, orbited by a pinkish-orange "red dwarf" star of spectral classification M4.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

  • Epsilon Cygni A has a binary companion Epsilon Cygni C that is separated from Epsilon Cygni A by ~1700AU and has an orbital period of at least 50,000 years.
  • From the perspective of the Sol system, Epsilon Cygni A has an optical companion Epsilon Cygni B that is actually not physically associated with Epsilon Cygni A.

The Epsilon Cygni star system lies approximately 22.3pc from Terra, and is located in a Corespinward/Spinward direction from Terra at bearing 080.0o Galactic Longitude and -05.7o South Galactic Latitude.
