Eddum is an industrial world with a tainted atmosphere. The system has a population over one billion. This system serves as the capital for the subsector. This world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. The world has been set aside to preserve indigenous life forms, to delay resource development, or for other reasons. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Bolivar Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Amec Trade Protectorate and the Domain of Vland. Eddum, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the fiefdom of a count. Both are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. During the Long Night this world was named Eddum. The Nahuatl name of the world is Epantla.

Mainworld Topography and Geography[edit]
Eddum is extremely mountainous, except for the great plain of Huitzilopochtli.
- NahlTeotihuican (capital city)
- Veil of Tears (waterfall)
- Tetrahuitlcalpu city
- Chicometli city
- Tana eh'timkaht (city, Ba'Menelik colony)
History and background[edit]
Eddum is the official capital of the Amec Trade Protectorate and home to the court of the Tlatoani and Cihuacoatl. Eddum is classed as a protected conservation area and, since the attempted assassination of the Tlatoani Chumanoatl in 788, Imperial visitors are severely restricted as to where they may go on the planet.
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Eddum has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
1 billion
World Demographics[edit]
- Human (97%)
- S'mrii, 1%
- Other, 2%
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Eddum possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fission power generation, advanced water and wind generation of electricity.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, early ATV's, and dedicated AFV's.
- Water: Amphibious vehicles, improved submersibles, and early SCUBA gear.
- Air: Early jet aircraft and rotorcraft VTOL's.
- Space: Early unmanned rocket delivery systems and early manned orbital rockets.
World Government (G)[edit]
Eddum has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. A colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
- The government of Eddum is the final court of appeal for all planets in the Amec Trade Protectorate.
Law[edit]
Law is enforced by either Amec Quauchic, Church representatives, or private security. Amec laws are considered just but harsh. The higher the status of the offender, the more severe the penalty.
Languages[edit]
- Galaach: Spoken mainly in the ports
- Karanga: Spoken by certain Solomani ethnic groups of ultimately African descent
- Nahuatl: Official language of the Amec Trade Protectorate
- Sall: A common second language
Meteor Strike of 895[edit]
Eddum was originally classified with a population of 10 billion, and TL–E, and was populated with hundreds of medium sized cities surrounded by suburbs and chanty towns. In 895 a medium sized meteor struck Exaar (Eddum's only moon). The impact caused a slight fluctuation in Exaar's orbit which in turn caused Eddum to suffer a minor shift in the planetary axis. Although the planet moved less than 1°, it was sufficient to cause an chain of volcanoes to burst into life. The atmosphere was afflicted with the stench of sulfur, entire cities were buried under lava and ash, and the accompanying severe earthquakes killed over 6 billion people in one of the worst catastrophes ever to befall the sector. The Tlatoani was persuaded to move to Syrna (Dagudashaag 0329) while the Protectorate mobilized its forces into a massive rescue operation.
In 898 the Tlatoani elected to return the Turquoise Throne to Eddum. He rebuilt the cites along Syrnan lines; garden cities surrounded by floating gardens and estates. He decreed the people would return to a more idyllic life style and banned the majority of shipping from landing on the planet, displacing the major starports to Exaar.
Each city is designed as a mortal paradise. All high technology (outside the work environment) is banned by law. The poor are deported off-planet so as not to be a blemish on the classic beauty of the architecture.
Era: Rebellion[edit]
In the immediate polarization of the Imperium after the assassination of Emperor Strephon, the major factions tried immediately to seize and control the high-population worlds of the Imperium. In outlying sectors, other factions took control But at the borders between the factions, the worlds were up for grabs Eddum was one such world.[2]
In the last days of 1116, both Dulinor and Lucan had stationed battle fleets in the Eddum system The admirals in charge, however, found that the relative equality of the forces produced a stalemate with little chance for resolution. Further, until one side or the other achieved supremacy in space, they would not be able to begin a campaign to convince the local population of Eddum that it should give its loyalty to one of the factions of the Rebellion. [2]
The governor general proposed that Eddum be allowed to determine for itself, through large-scale general elections, which side it would take in the Rebellion. The besieging fleets would be reduced to the bare minimum required to blockade the planet A cease-fire between the two fleets would be imposed The nations of Eddum would be allowed to determine for themselves which faction they would support in the Rebellion. [2]
Prohibited from deploying military forces into the enemy's territory, yet allowed by the same proclamation to carry their arguments into those territories, the major nations of Eddum turned to their air forces to convince their neighbors of the rightness of their causes. [3]
Each nation assigned to its air forces the responsibility of carrying radio broadcasts, television broadcasts, and print leaflets into the territory of the enemy in order to convince populations which way they should vote in the upcoming general election. [3]
In turn, each nation found itself forced to defend its skies by driving off or destroying the invading aircraft, justifying such actions on the basis of article three of the governor general's proc1amation. Finally, nations defended their unarmed broadcast aircraft (also claiming justification from article three) with armed escort fighters. [3]
The natural result was an intense air war in the skies of Eddum. Air forces campaigned to carry convincing arguments about the Rebellion to the populations of other nations Dogfights in the skies became routine as fighters were deployed to eliminate intruding aircraft.[3]
