Dhuku is a nonindustrial water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.

  • The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Tasman Subsector of Glimmerdrift Reaches Sector.

World Starport[edit]

Dhuku has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

Dhuku's Highport is a small affair that cannot handle large numbers of ships at one time, though it is set up to service the large freighters that sometimes come through. Most smaller traffic proceeds directly to the Downport on Settlement Island, where facilities are more extensive, and the ground crews are cheerfully efficient. The seafood restaurants are also said to be the best in the sector.

World Technology Level[edit]

Dhuku possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:

World Government[edit]

Dhuku has no central government for the world, an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.

The population has no formal system of government because most communities are rather small and well integrated. Feelings of personal respect and friendship, plus the natural leadership of some individuals, bind the communities together. The seas of Dhuku are highly dangerous; another reason for the highly co-operative nature of Dhuku society.

World Military[edit]

World Economy[edit]

The main industry of Dhuku is shallow-water farming. Divers and small submarines armed to deal with the more intrusive local wildlife patrol the relevant areas, though shallow-water incursions are fairly uncommon. More hazardous is deep-water industry, such as mineral extraction. Deep-water bases are under constant threat and suffer a small but steady attrition of personnel due to accidents and encounters with local wildlife. However, this activity is necessary to support the world’s industry.
