System Data[edit]

4 Gas Giants — 2 Planetoid Belts — 11 Other Worlds

Mainworld Data[edit]

Daphnis is a standard-sized world with a standard atmosphere, but little water.

Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]

2 small polar oceans exist on Daphnis, but there is a vast equatorial desert region. Several high mountain ranges exist.

Mainworld Map[edit]

No information yet available.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

No information yet available. Some species appear to ancient transplants.

History & Background / Dossier[edit]

The humans of Daphnis are an ancient culture in the sense that they were initially deposited here by the Ancients. Until very recently, Daphnis had no knowledge of the wider scope of humaniti; in this respect, it was very close to how pre-Contact Terra existed.

World Starport[edit]

Daphnis does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.

Daphnis Highport was just completed by the Solomani Confederation, and represents the latest designs in Class-A Starports. It is crewed largely by Confederation staff and marines, with a sub-staff of Daphnis military as trainees. The catch here is that it is orbiting the 2nd gas giant until Daphnis government signals that it will accept it in local geosynchronous orbit.

Daphnis Government has requested a hold on the Downport construction for the moment due to obvious political tensions.

World Technology Level[edit]

Daphnis possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

Daphnis has widely available fission power plants in the form of advanced Molten Salt Reactors (MSR), but are still breeding U233 from local Thorium reserves. Until sufficient supply of U233 are acquired, they will continue to burn U235. Daphnis government has requested plans for a series of fusion reactors from Tech-A thru Tech-C, to build industry, technology, and skills to become self-sufficient.

Daphnis is currently using a combination of Confederation shuttles and local orbital craft to reach the Highport.

World Government[edit]

Daphnis is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.

World Law Level[edit]

Daphnis has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Military[edit]

The Daphnis world government is a newly evolved creature, which inherited the militaries of its predecessors. As such, it has extensive ground forces and atmospheric aircraft, but only a fledgling Space Navy.

World Economy[edit]

Daphnis has a fully developed world economy. Much of this economy is dedicated to recycling water and maintaining living conditions.

Trade Data[edit]

Isolated.

That said, the Solomani Confederation plans to make Daphnis the next point on J-4 trade route from Echo Prime.

World Demographics[edit]

Population: 10B

Humaniti, Daphnis sub-species 100%

World Culture[edit]

Daphnians are highly adapted to living under low moisture conditions. Their bodies naturally conserve water under normal conditions, but sweat normally under exertion.

The Daphnian worldnet is almost purely experimental and academic.

Alien contact is a constant theme of local science fiction, and currently is tied to the horror genre. This cultural trend is complicating open contact for the Daphnis government.

The Godstar (Beta Tauri) drives the beliefs of at least 2 major religions on Daphnis.

World Language/s[edit]

Daphnian-1, Daphnian-2, Daphnian-3.

Urbanization[edit]

Extensive urban zones exist near natural water sources.
