Cojole is a preindustrial, agricultural world.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import many manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Tsorva Subsector of Halcyon Sector.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.

System data[edit]
Push-Cojole System[edit]
The primary is Push, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.994 Sols, a mass of 1 Sol, and a diameter of 1.366 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (II) a vacuum worldlet, and (III) a vacuum inner world. (IV) Cojole orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (V) a dense stony planetoid belt, (VI) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (VII) a ringed large gas giant, (VIII) a large gas giant, (IX) a small gas giant, (X) a vacuum iceworld, (XI) a sparse icy planetoid belt, and (XII) a small ice giant form the outer system. All of the gas giants and many of the larger worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(IV) Cojole[edit]
(IV) Cojole is designated the mainworld and orbits Push at a mean distance of 0.98 AU (146.6 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 354 days 8 hours and a rotation period of 21.5 hours. The axial tilt is 24 degrees. Cojole has a diameter of 10,133 km, a density of 5.62 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.81 G. Its atmosphere is rated as Dense, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 1.81 bar and a composition of 76% nitrogen, 3% carbon dioxide, 20% oxygen, and 1% argon, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, neon and other trace gases. Approximately 73% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.75m. Mean surface temperature: 30°C. The atmosphere is dynamic and powerful weather systems, driven by the star and the oceans, sweep across the globe. The climate is seasonal and weather patterns follow regular cycles during the local year.
Satellite:[edit]
Cojole retains a single natural satellite, a thin atmosphere hospitable world named Jothan:
- (IVa) Jothan (UWP H354000-0, geosynchronous orbit at 35 Diameters/355,000 km)
Mainworld geography and topography[edit]
Total surface area: 323 million km², Land surface area: 87 million km², Water surface area: 236 million km².
Native lifeforms[edit]
Cojole has extensive and abundant native life. The local flora has a tendency towards tall hollow stems and spherical leaves: foliage is generally translucent green in colour. Their metabolic functions power the process of atmospheric renewal. The majority of local fauna follows the body pattern Bilateral HSB-T-LN-LN-T, with bony interiors, gore fluids, and skin exteriors. Most local lifeforms can be digested by humans with few problems, though precautions must be taken as some many species trigger allergic reactions in humans.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

World starport[edit]
Cojole has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level[edit]
Cojole possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion, and the most fundamental atomic energy.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ground cars or automobiles and tracked vehicles.
- Water: Large ships and submersibles with steel hulls.
- Air: Early aircraft including seaplanes and very early unmanned rockets.
World government[edit]
Cojole has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.
World military[edit]
Several countries have fierce military rivalries. Corporate arms dealers from most major firms find eager markets for their wares.
World economy[edit]
Securing off-world contracts and securing transport for agricultural products are essential for the economic survival of this world. These contracts are so large and lucrative, several large off world corporations for more advanced planets have small branch offices here to ensure the smooth operations.

World culture[edit]
Several local species have been semi-domesticated to facilitate some crude forms of racing. Some truly spectacular flying forms have evolved here to take advantage of the thick atmosphere and lighter gravity. Aerial races broadcast world wide with the aid of imported camera drones are televised on imported equipment at tracks. The race course for these flying races can involve several hour flights over vast courses among forests of giant photosynthesizers. Racers must be fast and cunning merely to survive these events. A myriad of local predators lie in wait for racing flyers. Tracks are popular social centers, major live stock shows usually culminate in races in several classes and using different species of fauna. Local military conflicts have been known to sign cease fire treaties to facilitate no interruption of popular racing events and annual livestock fairs. They are so critical to the trading and breeding stock of all nation-states.
Religious leaders are suspected to possess psionic abilities. Few will submit to examination or testing as they are a fiercely independent people. Taboos about the spirits of the dead communing with psionically talented people has led to strong superstitions, even as scientific inquiry is rising. The warrior clans are greatly respected. Gossip is a popular form of entertainment. High social status is greatly valued. There is a polytheistic religion which focuses on the costs of sinful behavior. Worship takes the form of joyous prayers on major holidays. Stories and parables from the venerated elders are passed down on the numerous festival holidays. Feasts are held with weddings on these special occasions. There have been some recent problems with plagues. Foreign visitors are often blamed for bringing diseases from the stars. Because of the violent warrior culture the current gender ratio is 0.87 males/female. The fertility rate is 2.1 children per family. Life expectancy is 40.8 years. The population is 10% urban and 90% rural and often nomadic. The literacy rate is 10%. Soldiers are volunteers, no one is forced to be a warrior. Tribal nations focus on defense and deterrence. Rank is earned through aptitude tests. Hydrogen lighter than airships are the most recent technology innovation. Small fleets of carriers with small squadrons of propeller driven craft and a few flights of animal borne flyers meet for dramatic aerial duels. Aerial rocketry barrages are quite spectacular to view, from a safe distance. Troop carriers with parachutes and landing gliders deploy from other classes. Some submarines prowl the world’s oceans as well. Major full scale wars are rare, but rivals frequently skirmish and test each other’s bravery and resolve, while jockeying for power, prestige and reputation. Raiding and looting resources and enemy military technology has occurred as well. Civilians don't carry guns, but bladed weapons are common and there is dueling over points of honor and vengeance for personal criminal behavior. Several species of trained animals are available for export. Higher technology gadgets are highly prized imports and are status symbols among the natives. Several tribal nations produce beautiful works of art highly valued off world. Trade levels are still very low. Wealth is focused in a small upper class with most of the literate and technology proficient clan members.
