Biika Subsector is Subsector G of Verge Sector.
- It forms part of the Imperium, lying within the Domain of Ilelish.
- It is located within Charted Space.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The subsector is a true backwater, with a majority of its worlds overseen solely by resident Knights. Much of this subsector was not part of the Ziru Sirka, and adoption into the Rule of Man was slow. With the travel restrictions of the Vilani removed, this subsector did slowly attract settlement into the early Long Night, but would eventually retreat toward a few successful worlds.
- The subsector lies on the edge of the Great Rift.
- It is considered to be an Imperial heartland.
- It has been settled for millennia.
Astrographic Features[edit]
The following astrographic features and trade routes can be found within this subsector:
- It is a standard stellar density region.
- The brightest star is the unstable red giant primary of the Murassi system.
- Major Xboat Hubs are located at Sirim, Tuzhiri, Murassi, and Inan.
- The Sirim Loop.
Stellar Distribution[edit]
A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Biika Subsector.
- The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
- The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map).
Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.
- Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
- Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.
Rifts and Voids[edit]
The subsector lies on the trailing edge of the Great Rift.
- The rift hinders travel and commerce within the region.
- It has placed a boundary on Imperial settlement and expansion within the area.

(Chart sourced from Traveller Map.)
The nature and limits of the rift may be determined by different criteria in different regions.
- Generally, its boundaries are based on jump performance.
- Areas may traditionally be considered rift regions, even though all of their worlds are accessible to ships equipped with high performance drives.
Trade Routes[edit]
Mains are chains of star systems, each lying 1 parsec from its neighbour. They are trade routes, with high cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels moving along them, carrying vast amounts of goods and commodities between their member worlds.
The Sirim Loop[edit]
The Sirim Loop has its trailing terminus within the subsector. It has 38 member worlds and runs along the edge of the Great Rift.
(Chart sourced from Traveller Map)
- Worlds lying on the Main are highlighted in green.
- Sirim, the namesake of the Main, is marked in red.
World Listings[edit]
Comprehensive Second Survey UWP data for all worlds lying within the subsector is available.
- The primary source material for all data is Traveller Map.
- Other sources may contain contradictory or incorrect information.
Note that some Second Survey data, though only 40 years old, is likely to be out of date.
- Data is occasionally updated as new information becomes available.
- Scouting missions gathering reliable, verified data can receive substantial payment.
- Verified updated data is constantly sought.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The Old Verge Combine, a polity founded during the Long Night and centered on Tripolis in Miruu Subsector, claimed sovereignty over a single world – Noargan – on the coreward-trailing edge of the subsector. The Combine's member worlds were eventually absorbed by the expanding Third Imperium.
- Noargan has gone on to become the Imperial subsector capital.

The Biika Subsector is defended by 46th Fleet.
Polity Listing[edit]
The following polities can be found within this subsector:
Native Sophonts (NILs)[edit]
The following races (sophont species) are believed to have originated in this area:
- Kachiya of Krolock. An extinct sophont species from a world orbiting binary red stars. The world is littered with the remains of their civilization.
Demographics[edit]
Significant populations of the following races (sophont species) reside within this area:
- Humaniti (Human races):
- Mixed heritage (Major Race): broadly distributed across the subsector.
- Solomani (Major Race): broadly distributed across the subsector.
- Suerrat of Ilelish, in Ilelish Sector (Minor Human Race): small communities on worlds across the subsector.
- Vilani (Major Race): broadly distributed across the subsector.
Politics & Diplomacy[edit]
The more prominent members of the Imperial heirarchy of Biika Subsector include:
Duchies
- Duchess Nephra Zealant of Noargan, as the saying goes, is "Old Money", but out here, on the Rift's edge, that counts for little. Her career has been long and, from the point of view of a Ducal station, disappointing. As 1105 opens, she is looking toward retirement in a decade or so to allow her still very young daughter (Isabina Zealant-Kaagaal) to take over. Duchess Nephra is a firm and exhaustive planner and negotiator, and those who have participated in Isabina's early schooling say she is a chip off the old block, even at the tender age of 6.
Counties
- Count Chadrick bin-Sirim of Sirim is a rarity in Verge, having just risen to his Imperial station in 1104 from a non-Noble family affiliated with the governance of Sirim. Ambitious, if not quite graspingly so, he sees potential in the worlds in his care that, in his mind, has previously been missed. His connections at home allow him to tap into a strong economic base, and he has many plans.
Viscounties
- Viscount Hoshi Philips-Yatramura of Ningshia is the third ranking Imperial noble in the subsector. Very proper and concerned with protocol, he is also the most likely to travel to Capital to deliberate in the Moot.
Marquessates
- The two Marquises in the subsector are neighbors: despite having vastly different worlds under their charge and thus very different priorities, they are long time friends. M. Adaan Dria (of Nishapur) and M. Michel Quan-Goran (of Tuzhiri) were both seated in the mid 1090s and remain energetic in pursuit of their responsibilities. They frequently operate as a political and economic unit.
News Coverage
Ilelish Interstellar Information Interchange (I4), the leading news and media organization within the sector, keeps close tabs on the activities and personal lives of the rich and titled and their various courtiers. Shows, broadcasts, and articles covering all of the politics, gossip, and scandal are widely available across a variety of formats. It is in open competition with other smaller media companies to be the first to get the top stories.
- While I4's style of jounalism is generally considered intrusive and sensationalist, the organization broadly supports the Imperial nobility, recognising the importance of the revenue stream that it generates.
- There are rumors of "understandings" between various parties and of some troubling stories being quashed.
Major Historical Events Timeline[edit]
Major events that have affected this subsector and the wider region that it lies within:
- -4045 to -2204: the Ziru Sirka claims and settles worlds across the region. Many of the worlds of the subsector were never incorporated.
- -2404 to -2215: the Interstellar Wars.
- -2204 to -1776: the Rule of Man administers the worlds of the region.
- -1776 to 0: the Long Night. There is widespread regression within the area. Many worlds become barren.
- Pre-Year 0: the Old Verge Combine, a polity centered on Tripolis in Miruu Subsector, claims a single world on the trailing edge of the region.
- The Year 0: the Third Imperium is founded.
- 300-420: the First Survey charts the subsector.
- 604 to 622: the Imperial Civil War. The region suffers disruption and widespread economic issues.
- 624: the Express Boat Network is established, facilitating communications, trade, and economic growth within the area.
- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the subsector.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published. Information about the subsector becomes widely available.
Subsector Summary[edit]
Biika, subsector G of Verge contains 36 worlds with an estimated population of 3 billion, a per capita income of Cr6,644, and a total economy is BCr20,114.
