System Data

Barka-Athune Subsystem

The primary is Barka, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 1.21 Sols, a mass of 1.04 Sols, and a diameter of 1.433 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a trace atmosphere worldlet, (II) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (III) a dense atmosphere stormworld. (IV) Athune orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. Orbital positions (V) through (VIII) are unavailable due the presence of the companion star. (IX) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (X) a large gas giant, and (XI) a small gas giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Yast Subsystem

The companion is Yast, a dim red main sequence star that orbits Barka at a mean distance of 5.74 AU (orbital position (VII), 858.7 million km), and with an orbital period of 13 years 177 days. It has a luminosity of 0.001 Sols, a mass of 0.215 Sols, and a diameter of 280,000 km. (I) a trace atmosphere iceworld, and (II) a small ice giant form the outer system. The ice giant retains satellites.

(IV) Athune

(IV) Athune is designated the mainworld. It orbits Barka at a mean distance of 1.11 AU (166 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 418 days 20 hours and a rotation period of 22.5 hours. The axial tilt is 16 degrees. Athune has a diameter of 12,783 km, a density of 5.62 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.02 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Dense, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 1.91 bar and a composition of 82% nitrogen, 17% oxygen, and 1% argon, water vapour, carbon dioxide, neon and other trace gases. The atmospheric taint is caused by the relatively low percentage of atmospheric oxygen and allergenic spores and pollens of organic origin. Approximately 83% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.5m. Mean surface temperature: 8°C. The atmosphere is dynamic and powerful weather systems driven by the star sweep across the globe. The climate is seasonal.

Satellite

Athune retains a single natural satellite, a thin atmosphere hospitable world named Lessian:
