Argonos is a low-population water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water and a population of less than 10,000 sophonts.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Theton Subsector of Vland Sector in the Domain of Vland.
- It is a chilly tundra world, with a climate of low temperatures.
- Saragon, a secondary world within the system, is the homeworld of an unnamed methane-breathing Minor Non-Human Race.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Argonos has a solitary primary star named Shosatha.
- It is a red main sequence.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- Argonos, a chilly, dense atmosphere water world designated as the mainworld and orbiting towards the outer edge of the habitable zone.
- Saragon, a large, very cold, insidious atmosphere fluid world orbiting within the outer system.
- Maratok, a trace atmosphere ice-capped world orbiting within the cold outer system.
- The Inner Belt, a sparse rocky planetoid belt lying within the cold outer system.
- A tiny vacuum worldlet orbiting within the deep outer system. It is designated alpha (α).
- A frigidly cold ice-capped vacuum world orbiting within the deep outer system. It is designated beta (β).
- The Outer Belt, a sparse icy planetoid belt marking the outer edge of the system.
- A chart depicting the Argonos system, in the style of charts appearing in "The Flaming Eye".
Mainworld Data[edit]
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Argonos is a Meso World between 12,000km and 13,500km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.8G and 1.1G. The horizon will appear about 5.1km away. Vessels with 1G of thrust should check with local starport authorities before attempting to land using emergency power.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Argonos has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Argonos has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
A map of Argonos, the nominated mainworld of the system, showing the world-ocean, the largest of the islands and archipelagos that dot its surface, and the huge polar icecaps.
- Far more detailed maps are available locally.
- Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
- Detailed survey data commands premium prices.
- A simple map of Argonos, the mainworld of the Argonos system.
Local Sophont[edit]
Saragon, a very cold insidious atmosphere secondary world orbiting within the outer system, is the homeworld of an unnamed methane-breathing sophont Minor Race.
- They are generally referred to as Saragon.
- Their population numbers in the tens of millions.
- They are extremely xenophobic and actively avoid contact with "hotworlders".
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
World Starport (St)[edit]
Argonos has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Argonos has population of 600 sophonts (hundreds).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
Urbanization[edit]
Almost all of the world is wilderness. There is only one urban center:
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Argonos possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Argonos is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions in the government. These positions are inherited by member of the group or their family members. The organization may be monarchy, with titles passed to family members. Or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Or the organization may be more typical organization with positions of power inherited.
World Law (L)[edit]
Argonos has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Personal concealable firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]
Argonos, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.
- It holds the estate of an Imperial knight.
- This noble also oversees Saragon, a cold, insidious atmosphere secondary world with a reclusive native sophont species that orbits in the outer system.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -3 (very unimportant)
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 6 (few)
- Labor: 1 (tens)
- Infrastructure: 0 (non-existent)
- Efficiency: -5 (extremely poor)
World Culture[edit]
- Heterogenity: 1 (monolithic)
- Acceptance: 1 (extremely xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 3 (somewhat typical)
- Symbols: 6 (somewhat concrete)
World Timeline[edit]
