Amdarush is a satellite of a gas giant.

Mainworld Size (S)

Amdarush is a Meso World between 7,200km and 8,800km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.4G and 0.57G. The horizon will appear about 4km away.

• Tidal stresses on the world generated by the gas giant and the close star cause regular geological activity, including powerful earthquakes.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Amdarush has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

• Temperatures rise and fall as the world orbits its gas giant primary, increasing as it moves to starward and dropping dramatically as it passes into the shadow the huge world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Amdarush has 05-15% of its surface covered by liquid water or ice. Wilderness refueling will be difficult. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are Hell Worlds or Poor Worlds depending on their atmosphere.

History & Background (Dossier)

A distant moon circling a warm gas giant around a dimming red star, Amdarush manages to support billions of Vilani-descended Humaniti in a dozen sealed cities and arcologies scattered across the surface, as well as many smaller communities. While the air is too thin to breathe except for a few adapted groups who cluster around the one ocean where the air is just slightly heavier, the planet still supports limited agriculture. Growing seasons are based on sporadic world-wrapping megastorms that the locals have gotten quite good at predicting. The food here is not imaginative, nor edible without some processing (some high-altitude Terran barley being one of the few exceptions), and the vast population depends on imported food for variety.

The Count of Amdarush is from an old family native to Amdarush, and has family estates in the equatorial region in a picturesque area between a high mountain range and a massive extinct volcano. That he and his family keep only commercial holdings in any of the cities is a curiosity that the family chooses not to acknowledge.

Ilelish Interstellar, the leading media corporation within Verge Sector, has offices and facilities on the world.

• It is known for its intrusive and sensationalist style of journalism.

World Starport (St)

Amdarush has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

Amdarush has a population of 7,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).

• High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.

Amdarush possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
