Uptar is a barren fluid hellworld with oceans of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, or hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids.
- This world has no overt population, government, or law level.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants.
- This world could be populated if anyone had an inclination to do so...
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
- It is an unclaimed Non-Aligned world located in the Murada Subsector of Halcyon Sector.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- Uptar lies within the Moat Rifts.

System Data[edit]
Valens-Uptar System[edit]
The primary is Valens, a dim red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.0025 Sols, a mass of 0.244 Sols, and a diameter of 334,000 km. (I-I) Uptar, designated the mainworld, and (I-II) an exotic atmosphere bigworld form the outer system. Neither world retains satellites.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(I-I) Uptar[edit]
(I-I) Uptar is designated the mainworld. It orbits Valens at a mean distance of 0.13 AU (19.5 million km), within the outer system. It has an orbital period of 34 days 16 hours: it is tidally locked to Valens. The axial tilt is 3 degrees. Uptar has a diameter of 11,553 km, a density of 5.97 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.83 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Corrosive, with a mean surface pressure of 74.3 bar and a composition of 81% nitrogen (N2), 14% carbon dioxide (CO2), 3% methane (CH4), 1% nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), ammonia (NH3), water vapor (H2O), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 8% of the surface is covered in lakes of carbon dioxide kept liquid by the very high atmospheric pressure and low temperatures. Mean surface temperature: -85°C. The atmosphere is very active and powerful weather systems driven by the star scour the globe. The climate is seasonal.
Mainworld geography and topography[edit]
Total surface area: 419 million km², Land surface area: 385 million km², Fluid surface area: 34 million km².
- The world experiences libration, which causes the star to move in the sky and periodically rise and fall above the horizon in the Twilight region.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Neither world in the Uptar system has native life.
