Undim has the population located in one or more dwarf planets or planetesimals in a co-orbital position, an asteroid belt. The system supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. This world was once settled and developed, but the inhabitants have either died off or left leaving behind the remnants of their civilization. This world has a research station engaged in the scientific pursuit of knowledge. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Ushra Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Undim, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This is the homeworld of the Shassahhrhi, an extinct Minor Race. During the Long Night this world was named Iishmu Gi.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

The whole population of the Undim Belt reside in the settlement of Olosquis and most work for Ushra Materials Technology (UMT) which houses its major research base here. The settlement both tests new equipment and mines the belt for its many unusual elements.

Whilst UMT is the currently the major employer the Government is run separately though the views of UMT do carry a great deal of weight. In recent years other mining companies have started to move in to the belt and tried to break UMT’s monopoly but so far without a great deal of success. UMT’s major competitors are Tannesh MinTech, a mining company which recently relocated to Undim from the Old Suns subsector. The animosity between the two companies is tearing the previously peaceful settlement of Olosquis apart.

Medurma Main StarLines maintains offices and facilities in the Undim system.

Mainworld Data[edit]

World Starport (Sp)

Undim has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Size (S)

Undim is an Asterioid Belt or Planetoid Belt consisting of a few very large objects with diameters of hundreds of kilometers, thousands of bodies of a few kilometers in diameter, and millions of smaller objects. Asteroid Belt is used when the belt is the mainworld of a system. Planetoid Belt refers to any non-mainworld belt within a system.

World Atmosphere (A)

Undim has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

World Hydrosphere (H)

Undim has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

World Population (P)

Undim has a population of 1,000 sophonts (thousands).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without a little outside assistance. This may represent the home base of a sizable but mostly transient population such as the base of a major starship expedition, the last generation of a dying colony, the first generation of a new colony, or a large outpost that will probably evolve into a colony if not stopped.
World Government (G)

Undim is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

World Law Level (L)

Undim has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Machine guns, other automatic weapons, portable energy weapons, and other military weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

World Technology Level (TL)

Undim possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

Imperial Landed Nobility (N)

Undim, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.
