Theev is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • This dangerous world is designated an Amber Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions make it dangerous to visitors.
  • This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or over technology standards for Charted Space.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Sindal Subsector of Trojan Reach Sector.
  • This world-system hosts a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.

Mainworld Geography and Topology[edit]

Theev has water, but is is present only as ice or as muddy slurry in low-lying areas. Away from the giant mudpits, the landscape is arid, rocky and dusty.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Theev is a non-industrial, non-aligned world located in the Sindal Subsector of the Trojan Reach.

World Government (G)[edit]

Theev has no central government for the world, an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.

The world is a legendary thieves’ port, "a pirate’s refuge where lawlessness is king and the Imperium’s police cutters and patrols cannot reach." As such, the world is considered dangerous and has been assigned an Amber Zone.

The main urban center is Blacksand City, built on top of a series of plateaus linked by sealed walkways. The city is ruled by pirate lords who punish those who use excessive violence in the otherwise lawless city.

Urbanization[edit]

During the Sindalian Empire, there were a number of cities here. Traces can still be seen in places, though most have been buried under centuries of dust. All of the known cities have been scavenged, though shells of lower floors might offer some shelter. There are rumours of hidden settlements on Theev, but the only acknowledged settlement is Blacksand City.

World Starport (Sp)[edit]

Theev has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

The Highport is tunnelled into a moonlet; both this moonlet and the port are known as "the Skull". The downport is Blacksand City, but the facilities are unusually dispersed, with the many landing bays linked by subterranean passages.

World Economy[edit]

  • Kallos Shipyards builds craft at the orbital highport but sells some components from its yards on-planet, while also serving as a clearing house for pirated ship components.
