System Data

Shika System

The primary is Shika, an ordinary red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.0202 Sols, a mass of 0.3942 Sols, and a diameter of 604,000 km. (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (III-I) a vacuum iceworld, and (III-II) a vacuum iceworld form the outer system. Only the bigworld retains a satellite.

Khiih-Tha'ki Subsystem

The companion is Khiih, a dim red subdwarf star that orbits Shika at a mean distance of 9.71 AU (orbital position (VIII), 1.45 billion km) and has an orbital period of 48 years 70 days. It has a luminosity of 0.0092 Sols, a mass of 0.144 Sols, and a diameter of 234,000 km (I) a thin atmosphere radworld, (II) Ith'kath, a ringed large gas giant: (IIc) Tha'ki is its outer moon and is designated the mainworld, and (III) a vacuum worldlet form the outer system. Only the gas giant retains satellites.

(II) Ith'kath

(II) Ith'kath is a ringed large gas giant that orbits Khiih at a mean distance of 0.41 AU (61.3 million km), within the outer system, and has an orbital period of 152 days 18 hours. It has a diameter of 129,000 km and an atmosphere consisting of 90% hydrogen (H₂), 10% helium (He), and less than 1% methane (CH₄), carbon monoxide (CO), ammonia (NH₃), water vapor (H₂O) and other trace gases. It is a heavily banded tan-yellow color dotted with large red-brown storms. It retains a family of three major satellites.

Ith'kath retains a narrow, highly reflective ring system and three major satellites:

(IIa) Ith'tha (UWP Y100000-0, orbiting at 4 Diameters/515,000 km)

(IIb) Ith'ki (UWP Y4A0000-0, orbiting at 11 Diameters/1.42 million km)

(IIc) Tha'ki (designated the mainworld, orbiting at 30 Diameters/3.87 million km)

Mainworld Data

(IIc) Tha'ki

(IIc) Tha'ki is the outer of the three major moons of (II) Ith'kath and is designated the mainworld. It orbits its parent world at a mean distance of 30 diameters (3.87 million km), with an orbital period of 1 year 228 days: it is tidally locked to Ith'kath. The axial tilt is 5 degrees relative to Ith'kath. Tha'ki has a diameter of 6,022 km, a density of 3.51 g/cm³ and a surface gravity of 0.31 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Ith'kath cause occasional geological activity. The atmosphere is rated as Trace, with a mean surface pressure of 0.001 bar and a composition of 83% carbon dioxide (CO₂, 14% nitrogen (N₂), 2% methane (CH₄), 1% argon (Ar), carbon monoxide (CO), water vapor (H₂O), azane (NH₃), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 8% of the surface is covered in a crust of crystalline water ice. Mean surface temperature: -114°C. The climate is rated as Frigid and is static, with no seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is ethereal and weak weather systems driven by the star ghost across the globe.

Mainworld Geography and Topography

Total surface area: 113 million km², Land surface area: 104 million km², Ice crust surface area: 9 million km². The surface is heavily cratered, ridged, and made up of dust and pulverised rock built up over aeons. Geysers of liquid water, nitrogen and other trace gases are ejected from the world's interior in geologically active areas. The jets freeze as they are released but reach thousands of meters in height before falling back to the surface in huge plumes. Large areas of the surface, particularly around active vents, are covered in a dense compacted crust of water ice, while much of the rest of the surface is dusted with a fine coating of tiny crystals of water ice.
