MegaTraveller 2: Quest of the Ancients (2017)

This old game centers on finding a way to stop the flow of slime issuing from an ancient ruin on the planet Rhylanor before it inundates the entire world. Do we want to add elements from the game to this entry? Is the game even considered canon these days?

I do not believe it is considered canon, so I would not put it in the main article. I think it would only cause far more problems than it is worth. If it was deemed absolutely necessary for completeness, it might be alluded to on a metadata page.

Also note that the primary article is from the perspective of pre-1116. Quest for the Ancients is set post-1120, so if it is mentioned, it needs to be clearly delineated as such.

A note should probably also be made that prior to the Kirgashiis (and the 1st Civil War), the Duchy of Rhylanor was held by House Alkhalikoi (which means that the 1st Civil War both started and ended from Rhylanor). --WHULorigan (talk) 14:45, 15 March 2016 (EDT)

Rhylanor seems to have an association with names derived from the British Isles (Welsh in particular), including the Shipbuilding Company "Clan Severn", the noble family of "Rhys ap-Connor" (a paramour of Duchess Arbellatra of Rhylanor prior to her ascension to the Imperial Throne), and Olav hault-Plankwell's intelligence organization, "Rhylanor Taoiseach" (Irish Gaelic; = Welsh "Tywysog").

The cities of Leba, Liduka, Hegra, Panish, and Kikhimaa City (AFAIK) are only mentioned in the Megatraveller 2: Quest for the Ancients computer game. My suggestion would be (in the absence of any contrary evidence) that they were named by early settlers from the Deneb and Lidash League region, since the names are somewhat similar orthographically to names of that region.

- Canonical Planetological Data is taken from GURPS Traveller:First In (World Creation example - p. 56, 61, 63, 75, 97, 104, 107 [sideabrs]).

- Canonical Government Type Data is taken from a harmonization of GURPS Traveller:First In (World Creation Example - sideabrs) and Classic Traveller: DGP Grand Census (Government Creation Example - p.25).

- Note that everything in the History-Era: New Era section is Non-Canonical, and is taken from RICE Paper SM 2716 by Christopher Griffen.

I would appreciate information on the sources used to discuss the up-port and its name ("Rhylantinople?" Please.) I have developed a particular interest in Rhylanor, and would very much like to reduce the silly-sounding things. I've discussed this with Maksim-Smelchak, who is apparently working on "clean-up" of the Wiki, and I believe that non-canonical information on a major world in the Spinward Marches should be moved straight into non-canon. If canonical, better citation would be appreciated.

Natural gravity

I see conflicting information about the planet's natural gravity being 0.28g or 0.5g.

I also see one of the linked sources giving the gravity as "0.34g", so apparently it depends on the author. Classic rules would suggest something near 0.5g, but values from 0.2g to 0.6g are all theoretically possible, depending upon planetary density (containing heavier metals, etc.) so it seems to be up to the Referee's discretion. I suppose we could add a tag to this article to indicate that it contains conflicting information from multiple sources.

Yes, but note in my source-notes listed above, the 0.5g gravity value comes from a published canonical source (GT:First In), whereas the 0.28 g value comes from an old fan-produced RICE Paper by Christopher Griffen (I believe on the TML for the TNE campaign-period in the pre/early-GT publishing era??) that I marked as non-canonical, and the 0.34g is found on a page on an external personal MT campaign website linked relatively recently in the References section, with no references to it in the Traveller-Wiki article itself. The majority of the world data (physical and sociological) that I used came from GT: First-In, DGP: Grand Census, and Cirque (all published source material), with a bit of harmonization where necessary. The 0.5g value should be used as the correct value.
