Support Weapons require heavy weapon skills to employ effectively with targets other than enemy infantry. [1]

  • Specialist soldiers are given the responsibility for moving, emplacing and operating these systems to prosecute targets with extreme prejudice.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

Man portable weapon systems organic to infantry units to deal with targets that the soldier's traditional individual weapon system was ill equipped to defeat. Most soldiers weapons are optimized to defeat enemy infantry. Support weapons are efforts for infantry to defeat heavier targets. Support weapons tend to be heavier and more expensive than traditional weapons. As a result they tend to be less numerous. [2]

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Support weapons vary with the technology of the army deploying them. At TL–5 medium machines guns altered the face of the battlefield forever. By TL–6 light machine guns had become the center piece of infantry squads. Man portable anti-tank weapons became common at armored vehicles took over the battlefield. Grenade launchers and TAC missiles are supplanted and supplemented with high energy weapons as technology levels permit. Sniper weapons also fall into this category. [3]
