Steel is a garden world with a shirt-sleeve atmosphere and a balance of available surface water. The system has no overt population, government, or law level. The world has been set aside to preserve indigenous life forms, to delay resource development, or for other reasons. It is a member of Sword Worlds Confederation in the Sword Worlds Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Sword Worlds.

Astrography & Planetology[edit]

Steel is a member of the Spinward Main. Steel is one of the Metal Worlds.

Native Lifeform[edit]

There is a life-form known as shell-crabs which resemble large lobsters (30-40 inches in length). They seem to have a taste for electrical insulation, and can chew through almost anything given time. There is now a market for the shell-crab meat. [2]

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Originally named Igliim after the legendary Vilani sword of that name.[3]

The world, while part of the Sword Worlds Confederation, was left as a reserve. The Imperium occupied Steel and the other Metal Worlds in the course of the Fifth Frontier War. After the conclusion of the war, Steel was opened to colonization in 1115.
