Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]

The semi-nomadic Geonee divide their homeworld into distinct regions that their ancestors wandered. No matter where a modern Geonee lives, the last part of their full name will always trace back to one of these regions of Shiwonee. All Geonee who share this name see each other as very distantly related. Regions include:

  • Bartonde
  • Brygant
  • Geranto
  • Lakantee
  • Mirtanto
  • Natante
  • Pangont
  • Takaske

Native Sophont (NIL): Geonee[edit]

The Geonee are a Minor Human Race, famed for their claim to be the Ancients. While this claim is generally not accepted, they do have one of the oldest human interstellar cultures in Charted Space, behind only the Suerrat and Vilani, and some of the highest technology.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Shiwonee is a rich Imperial world located in Shiwonee Subsector of Massilia Sector.

Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]

Shiwonee, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of four members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.

World Starport[edit]

Shiwonee has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level[edit]

Shiwonee possesses a Technology Level of TL–12 or TL-C in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government[edit]

Shiwonee is governed by Self-Perpetuating Oligarchy. A single family or small group provides the leadership and important positions in the government. These positions are inherited by member of the group or their family members. The organization may be monarchy, with titles passed to family members. Or a plutocracy where inheritance of the family fortune includes government position. Or the organization may be more typical organization with positions of power inherited.

The traditional ruling body is the Meeralo Council, which is also the ultimate court of appeal for all worlds in the Geonee Cultural Region.

World Demographics[edit]

Geonee, plus a large population of a subspecies of Chirper. These are toward the lower end of the Chirper intelligence spectrum, though they are greatly important to traditional (and private) Geonee family and marriage customs.

World Culture[edit]

Geonee are a patriarchal culture with a belief in their supposed descent from the Ancients (something non-one else accepts as true). They are also noted for a strong desire to know where ownership lies in any given context; to the Geonee, the most crucial function of government is to create a general framework to guarantee property rights.

World Language/s[edit]

Urbanization[edit]

Family housing is traditionally designed to be two separate wings, joined by a central courtyard.

  • The front part of the house, the "public home", is the abode of a male and any unmarried sons or male relatives. This is where visitors are received and males rest and relax.
  • The rear is the "private home", where the females live. The only males permitted in this part of the house are the husband -- as all the women are under his protection -- and immediate male relatives.
  • The courtyard is frequented equally by both men and women of the family. A secluded section of the courtyard is kept aside for the home of the selweeda – the Chirper (cerosee) that serves as a symbol of the legitimacy of the patriarch's marriage.
