History and background[edit]

Resin harvesting is a closely guarded secret and is only passed down through families. Fermented rumdum resin is not of sufficient quality to be a trade item but it is widely enjoyed across the planet. Rumdust on the other hand is a highly valued spice which can fetch high prices for only a few hundred grams. The dust acts as a natural flavor enhancer and is a standard ingredient of finer Ypsine cuisine.

Exported dust has even found its way to Capital and as far as the Vargr Extents and the Aslan Hierate, although on very infrequent occasions. It will seldom be found in any large quantity beyond Khipge subsector. Attempts to grow rumdums anywhere but Ypse have met with complete failure.

Rumdust is normally shipped in special vacuum sealed containers to prevent moisture contamination. Prices can range from 100Cr for 500 grams to well over 1000Cr per quarter kilo.

Travellers' Aid Society Advisory[edit]

The Travellers' Aid Society classifies rumdum as non-threatening to most sophonts and makes no special advisory regarding this organism.
