Pomodo is an icy, non-agricultural and nonindustrial vacuum world, whose surface is ice-capped and with nearly all of its water frozen and warranting hazardous environment precautions.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- It is a member world of the Sorority of Hygiea located in the Galaxa Subsector of Mavuzog Sector.
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
- This dangerous world is designated an Amber Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions make it dangerous to visitors.
- This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
- A Prison World, exile camp, or prison camp for criminals or other exiles is located upon this world in addition to other points of interest.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]
Pomodo has a solitary primary star.
- It is a tiny red subdwarf.

System Data[edit]
The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- The mainworld.
- x2 secondary rocky worlds.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Pomodo is tidally locked to its primary star.
- It experiences libration - a regular wobble - as it orbits, causing the star to move in the sky.
Mainworld Size (S)[edit]
Pomodo is a Small World between 4,000km and 5,600km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.24G and 0.34G. The horizon will appear about 3km away.
Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]
Pomodo has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]
Pomodo has 15-25% of its surface covered by ice, either in vast sheets or contained deep within craters or fractures on the surface. Wilderness refueling is possible. Water for the inhabitants can be got by mining and melting ice.
- The surface of the world is composed of a crust of ice many kilometers thick.
- Much of the surface is cratered and covered in thick layers of regolith and dust of meteoric origin, leaving only a small amount of the icy outer shell exposed.
- Below the outer icy shell there may be a world-ocean of liquid water.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Pomodo is a Danger World and is designated as an Amber Zone. It presents particular risks and dangers due to the environment or native life forms, laws or customs, or other conditions that are not well understood.
- Visitors are advised to act with caution.
It is a high security prison facility run by the military forces of the Sorority of Hygiea.
- Almost all the prisoners held on the world are Yeshuran.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Pomodo has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Pomodo has a population of 9,000,000 sophonts (millions).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
- Around 8.5 million denizens are convicted criminals, carrying out their sentences working in mines and refineries.
- About 500,000 serving soldiers, support personnel, their families and dependants, merchants and traders, and various other civilians form the free population.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Pomodo possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government (G)[edit]
Pomodo has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. A colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
- The world is controlled and run by the military forces of the Sorority of Hygiea.
- The ultimate authority on the world is the Hygian Military Governor.
World Law (L)[edit]
Pomodo for free citizens has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
- Free citizens are not permitted to socially interact with convicts.
Pomodo for convicts has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked, and destinations must often be declared when traveling substantial distances across the world.
- Convicts are kept within fenced, patrolled districts. Escape attempts are severely punished.
Trade Data[edit]
- Importance: -2 (very unimportant)
The surface of the world is convered in a thick layer of regolith and debris of meteoric orign, some of which contains valuable minerals. Prisoners, using government-issued vacc suits and equipment, prospect for and mine mineral-rich areas. The extracted mineral ores are refined, using prison labor, and shipped back to Yeshura.
World Economy[edit]
- Resources: 8 (moderate)
- Labor: 5 (hundreds of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 2 (extremely limited)
- Efficiency: -1 (average)
World Culture[edit]
- Homogeneity: 8 (discordant)
- Acceptance: 4 (extremely aloof)
- Strangeness: 7 (confusing)
- Symbols: 7 (somewhat concrete)
World Timeline[edit]
- 300-420: the First Survey charts the system.
- 995-1065: the Second Survey charts the system.
- 1065: the Second Survey is published.
