Onortas is a nonindustrial vacuum world, which warrants hazardous environment precautions.

  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Mimiuudlika Subsector of Verge Sector in the Domain of Ilelish.
  • It orbits the secondary star.
  • This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
  • This world lies on the Sirim Loop.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Ornotas is a binary star system.

  • The primary is an orange main sequence.
  • The secondary is a red main sequence.
  • They are coincidental companions, happening to share the same hex.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

  • The mainworld. It orbits the secondary star.
  • x6 secondary rocky worlds. Four orbit the primary star, two orbit the secondary star.
  • x4 gas giants. Three orbit the primary star, one orbits the secondary star.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Ornotas orbits the secondary star.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Ornotas is a Small World between 2,400km and 4,000km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.1G and 0.17G. The horizon will appear about 2.5km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Ornotas has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Ornotas has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

There are two worlds named Onortas in Verge Sector, the other being located in Biika Subsector (G). As is sometimes the case the two worlds do enunciate their name a bit differently. Onortas in Biika Subsector tends to be spoken with emphasis on the first "O", while the residents of this Onortas have developed an accent that softens "r" sounds, making the name of their homeworld sound more like Onoahtas.[2]

The original inhabitants of the world were Vilani miners, keen on exploiting the worlds abundant mineral resources.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Ornotas has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Ornotas has a population of 50,000 sophonts (tens of thousands).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Ornotas possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Ornotas is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to write the policies voted on. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by voting population.

World Law (L)[edit]

Ornotas has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Imperial High (Landed) Nobility[edit]

Ornotas, as a member world of the Third Imperium has a member of the Imperial Nobility overseeing the world.

  • Importance: 0 (unimportant)

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: A (abundant)
  • Labor: 3 (thousands)
  • Infrastructure: 3 (very limited)
