System Data

Ogden System

The primary is Ogden, an ordinary blue main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 60.4 Sols, a mass of 2.76 Sols, and a diameter of 3.673 million km. The inner system consists of (II) a dense metal-rich planetoid belt, (III) a thin atmosphere radworld, and (IV) a vacuum worldlet with an elliptical orbit – orbital position (I) is empty and orbital positions (IV) through (X) are unavailable due to the presence of Celinko, the companion star. (XI) a ringed large gas giant, (XII) a small gas giant and (XIII) a vacuum iceworld form the outer system, following elliptical orbits around both stars. Many of the worlds within the system retain satellites.

Celinko-Occida Subsystem

The companion is Celinko, an ordinary yellow main sequence star that orbits Ogden at a mean distance of 9.6 AU (orbital position (VIII), 1.436 billion km), with an orbital period of 35 years 128 days. It has a luminosity of 0.47 Sols, a mass of 0.96 Sols, and a diameter of 1.299 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum worldlet and (III) a dense atmosphere stormworld – orbital position (II) is empty. (IV) Occida orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. Occida and the stormworld retain satellites.

(IV) Occida

(IV) Occida is designated the mainworld. It orbits Celinko at a mean distance of 0.98 AU (146.6 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 361 days 16 hours and a rotation period of 26.5 hours. The axial tilt is 17 degrees. Occida has a diameter 13,122 km, a density of 5.71 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.14 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, with a mean surface pressure of 1.02 bar and a composition of 79% nitrogen (N₂), 20% oxygen (O₂), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H₂O), carbon dioxide (CO₂), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 99% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 1.1m. Mean surface temperature: 3°C. The atmosphere is dynamic and powerful weather systems driven by the star and the oceans scour the surface. The climate is seasonal.

Satellites

Occida retains two natural satellites, a small thin atmosphere hospitable world named Neera and a vacuum worldlet named Polli:

Mainworld Geography and Topography

Total surface area: 541 million km², Water surface area: 530 million km², Land surface area: 11 million km².

Native lifeforms

The hot stormworld lying in orbital position (III) around Celinko (within the H– region of the inner system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and moisture. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

Occida, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

• Neera, Occida's hospitable inner moon has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

World starport

Occida has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions.
