Ngurrourzegh is an agricultural world with a tainted atmosphere but still a near-ideal environment for producing foodstuffs. The system supports a population of tens of millions of sophonts. It is a member of Infinity League in the Piprninsh Subsector of Knoellighz Sector.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Ngurrourzegh (Knoellighz 0837) B545776-7 Ag is the favored world, over Adhgurrgh, most Zhodani visit when travelling Trailing along the so-called Bridge of Destiny in Piprninsh Subsector upon gaining entry to the Infinity League polity. For it is at this world that the Vargr of Knoellighz Sector first allowed the Humaniti from Spinward to settle with any success.

The system lacks both Gas Giants and planetoid belts. This was a factor in choosing Ngurrourzegh for welcoming the Zhodani to do business along the Bridge of Destiny with the Infinity League, much to the surprise of the other polities and non-aligned worlds of Knoellighz Sector. The planetary gravity of the mainworld has a steady 0.6 surface gravity. The Thin and Tainted atmosphere was gradually filtered by personal and structural filters under the 0.6 atmospheric pressure. This was given further ease by the technologies imported by the Zhodani Proles at permissions from beyond the Crystal Wall of Knoellighz to Spinward.

To curtail an escalation among the Balkanized peoples of Ngurrourzegh, all weapons except shotguns were banned. The citizens responded by supporting local Infighting schools. The varied shotgun ammunition types allowed for non-lethal response. Later, with the infusion of Zhodani, anti-psionic rounds for shotguns were imported along with the other contributions from the settling, un-Talented Proles.

With the careful and planned delicacy, the Infinity League initiated a social and interracial experiment that appealed to the Zhodani Consulate in this Sector. In 1111 and under the watchful census of Ngurrourzegh’s local government at the Downport, Startown and immediate region, three million Zhodani Proles, non-psionic and lower caste volunteers, were permitted to immigrate and settle. The goals of this experiment were to set up a Zhodani Embassy, establish a local enclave community, share agricultural techniques as well as subsequent food logistics optimization. By 1112, the Embassy was established as a liaison between the League Vargr and Consulate Zhodani polities and peoples.

The interracial experiment was not without its protestors. The possessive Agriculture faction of the Infinity League was overruled by the combined support of the Commerce, Navy and signed by the Office of the President. Yet the local population of Vargr did question the motives of the Zhodani Consulate. Questions such as, “Are these immigrants truly un-Talented Humaniti?” arose. Zhodani Proles living “off the chain” was an example of jokes told by the Vargr on Ngurrourzegh in the initial, disbelieving years of the influx. A cultural clash also occurred. At first, a xenophobia erupted as the Vargr became afraid that they were soon to fall under the Tavrchedl’, the Zhodani Thought Police, to manipulate the populace. This further Balkanized the planet into governments that wanted nothing to do with the experiment. Yet, years later when the Proles settlers finally convinced the locals that they were indeed without psionics and under the governance of the Vargr government, not the Tavrchedl’, an influence exchange caused a relax in relations between the two races. The Starport and Startown Vargr came to a greater stability and efficiency in agricultural production for the greater Infinity League. Meanwhile the Proles reported to their distant Intendants and Nobles to Spinward a gradual acclimation to dealing with Vargr Charisma and the racial tendency of pack mentality. This exchange was punctuated by the Prole Encounter of 1113.

Prole Encounter of 1113[edit]

One Prole miraculously managed to gain ‘charisma’ by modifying his behavior housed inside his lower-caste Social Standing. At seeing his fellows being harassed and occasionally abused by local packs outside the Zhodani Enclave housing district one late evening, the Prole man challenged an offending pack’s highest-Charisma, Alpha to a duel of Infighting. At first, the challenge was taken as a Zhodani attempt at humor. Then, out of personal self-image, the pack leader accepted and dueled the Prole. Without the Prole possessing natural weapons and being un-Talented in psionics the two fought as both gathered Zhodani Proles and the curious Vargr watched the Infighting. Trained in Zhodani martial arts and yet modifying his technique to mimic the Infighting, natural weaponry style and behavior, the Prole managed to pin the pack alpha at the neck with a grappling hold and pressing his own teeth to the windpipe of the Vargr. Wresting a yelp of yielding surrender from the Vargr, the Zhodani Prole became the first of his race, in Knoellighz Sector, to modify and convert his lower Social Standing to that of Vargr Charisma.

The duel was caught on security cameras outside the Enclave. Through a slip of security, the Prole Encounter of 1113 was televised and distributed across the planet. It caused the citizen Vargr of Ngurrourzegh to re-think their treatment of the local Zhodani despite their previous xenophobia of psionic, Zhodani ‘taint’. Here was a Prole, a Zhodani man who bridged the gap between the two races in a modality that the Vargr could respect and appreciate. The Prole was later elevated and inducted to the Government (Diplomat) Career and went on to help ease Vargr xenophobia and increase dietary efficiency and logistics for both races on the mainworld.

The Prole settlers, upon introduction to Ngurrourgzegh, brought with them a few technologies to help with the interracial experiment. They include:

  • Anti-psionic shotgun ammunition
  • Magneto hydrodynamic machines for refining L-hyd from the 50% hydrosphere
  • Agricultural efficiency techniques
  • Prole-style law enforcement
  • Zhodani diplomacy (non-psionic)
  • Pollution scrubbers and efficient, personal filters

With the mixed results and attainments of the Proles-Vargr experiment, the world of Ngurrourzegh gained in Importance and clout in the Infinity League. This was met with much despised reactions from other polities on the Bridge of Destiny.
