Naezaengoz is a vacuum world, with no atmosphere or hydrosphere. The system supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. It is a member of Democracy of Greats in the Thoeg Subsector of Knoellighz Sector.

  • This system hosts a Democracy of Greats Naval Base for support of military starships.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Naezaengoz (Knoellighz 2323) is illuminated by a bright red but cool giant solar primary. Found in Thoeg Subsector of Knoellighz Sector, The system is devoid of life-sustaining worlds, Naezaengoz being a former planet, now fragmented and very slowly separating. Naezaengoz (NIGH-zyen-gohz) translates from Gvegh to Anglic as “broken egg”. Solar ejecta from the suspected former supergiant shrunk to cool red giant has wiped out all inner band planets and left Naezaengoz a world in the process of breaking up, its humongous fragments to someday spread out and become tiny planetoids in the orbital about a dying star.

The system of Naezaengoz holds two Gas Giants in the outer edge of the system and is separated from the ‘mainworld’ by a large planetoid belt. Three comets make eccentric and elliptical orbits about the cooling red giant every 20 years. The outermost Gas Giant features a wide band of ice rings.

Naezengoz is the last Naval Base bastion on the Coreward end of the so-called Bridge of Destiny and resides in the polity borders of the Democracy of Greats. The B-rated Starport is actually nestled deep within the crevices between planetary fragments and cannot easily be navigated by ships larger than 2000 displacement tons. Across the gap in the fragment fissure canyon and facing the ‘Downport’ is the Naval Base, the last military installation on the Bridge of Destiny. It is both a listening post and a fleet service point for Democracy starships. Though it cannot launch new vessels, the Naval Base can readily work with the Starport dockyards to conduct faster repairs than if by itself. Such double-time repairs and refits do cost more funds to tap both the drydock and the Naval Base. During the Quiet Wars, warships need to be in as little downtime as possible in order to “show the flag” to other polities and the occasionally encountered Corsair. Smaller fragments of Naezengoz have starship weaponry nestled in cracks, small valleys and the like to help defend this odd arrangement between the Starport and the Naval Base.

The population of 1000 Vargr are split almost evenly between the two above mentioned facilities. The Charismatic Great laying claim to this Jump-1 main, (and brazenly the entire Bridge of Destiny), goes to great pains to maintain and keep Naezaengoz supplied and siege ready. The two platforms are held at a battle-ready Law rating of 9 while the rest of the empty system is without government or law. Only patrols uphold polity laws and boundaries and only when they have nothing better to do. Though Naezaengoz is backed by five other Naval bases, all within Jump-2 of the Bridge of Destiny terminus, this installation is the primary listening post and vanguard against vessels of the Ascendancy Pact or Corsair bands of Thoeg subsector. For Navy and Marine Vargr, this is the best opportunity to liven the Quiet Wars in Knoellighz Sector.
