Marhaban has a short-sleeve breathable atmosphere. The system has a population between ten million and 100 million sophonts. This system serves as the capital for the subsector. The world has a climate with temperatures at the upper range of human endurance.  This world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Lentuli Subsector of Empty Quarter Sector and in the Domain of Antares. Marhaban, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the fiefdoms of a baron and the Subsector duke. All three are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This is the homeworld of the Bwap, a Minor Race.

  • Alternate orthography: Maharaban.

This world has been renamed thrice:

  1. The Bwap name of Taswabwapeaspa;
  2. The ancient Vilani name of Lentuli;
  3. And the Second Imperium name of Marhaban, Arabic for ‘Hello’.

Native Sophont (NIL): Bwap[edit]

Marhaban is the homeworld of the Bwaps or Newts, a minor alien species that resemble Terrestrial salamanders more than anything else. Newts are regarded as bureaucrats par excellance, and have been since the days of the Vilani Imperium.

  • Traditional centre of Bwap Culture. Marhaban is the most famous single system within the Imperial Empty Quarter.
  • The Bwap, by far the most widespread minor race in Charted Space are, as such, one of the most respected and revered across the stars. Several important Bwap governing agencies, including the Grand Council of Crechés, are also based on the world.

History and Background[edit]

Marhaban’s decision to swear allegiance to the Third Imperium on 208-015 carried great weight on Bwap creches across Charted Space.

Imperial High (Landed Nobility)[edit]

Marhaban (EQ 0426), as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of three members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.

World Starport[edit]

Marhaban (EQ 0426) has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Technology Level[edit]

Marhaban (EQ 0426) possesses a Technology Level of TL–13 or TL-D in Hexadecimal Notation.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovideo recorders.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, prototype collectors, advanced fusion plants.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:

World Government[edit]

Marhaban (EQ 0426) is governed by a Charismatic Dictatorship. Charismatic governments justify their ability to rule by simply asserting their right to rule. Charismatic dictatorships are young governments, coming as a recent change and rely on the leader(s) to supply head of government.

This world's culture is also overseen by the Grand Council of Crèches, or Atapas-atta-wapawab. Most Imperial authorities view the Atapas-atta-wapawab more as an administrative department within Bwap culture than an actual political entity, and so haven't acted against its influence. Some Imperial political scientists feel that the Grand Council's influence makes Government Code D: Religious Dictatorship more appropriate. Either way, it's a dictatorship with full public support.

No information yet available.

World Demographics[edit]

Of its 80,000,000 inhabitants, more than 95% are Bwap.

World Culture[edit]

Bwaps organise themselves into crèches. The crèche is where Bwaps will select a mate, where the eggs will be guarded and tended to, and where the young will be educated by the Satha-a-atta-wapawab (Elders of the Creche). The crèche is also the center of Bwap spirituality, and the focus point of study of the Wapawab (Tree of Life).

World Language/s[edit]

Wawa-pakekeke-wawa

Conceptually, the Bwaps view the world as Wapawab, the tree of life, with everything connected to everything else, and everyone performing a function for the good of the whole. Each tries to place himself and others in that tree and then interact in an appropriate manner. In particular, they have a fondness for being bureaucrats. Or, as some Terrans put it: “They think the Imperium’s a tree, and it’s their duty to keep us saps running.”

The Bwap have several native names for their world, including:

  • Wa-bawapakerwa-a-a-a-awapawabawabawaba, loosely meaning “small branch of the large and great tree that floats in the endlessly vast ocean”;
  • Peka-wapawab, loosely meaning “beloved, small branch of the great tree”;
  • TaswaBwapeaspa, loosely meaning “fruitful branch of the great tree”.

Bwaps use each of the names for their planet under very particular circumstances. The Vilani of the First Imperium named their world Lentuli; Arabic-speaking Solomani later labelled it Marhaban, “hello”, for its welcoming culture in a region otherwise rather hostile.
