Likagemika Subsector is Subsector K of Verge Sector.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

The subsector is a backwater area, connected to the Imperium by a chain of worlds within Jump-4 of each other and running from spinward to trailing. Much of the power here is perched on rift's edge. The Ziru Sirka only settled a few worlds within the region.

  • The subsector lies on the edge of the Great Rift.
  • It has been settled for millennia.

Astrographic Features[edit]

The following astrographic features and trade routes can be found within this subsector:

  • It is a low stellar density region.
  • The brightest star is the unstable orange subgiant primary of the Oktar system.
  • No Xboat Hubs are located within the region.
  • The Sirim Loop.

Stellar Distribution[edit]

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Likagemika Subsector.

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Trade Routes[edit]

Mains are chains of star systems, each lying 1 parsec from its neighbour. They are trade routes, with high cargo capacity, low jump rating vessels moving along them, carrying vast amounts of goods and commodities between their member worlds.

Rifts and Voids[edit]

The subsector lies on the trailing edge of the Great Rift.

  • The rift hinders travel and commerce within the region.
  • It has placed a boundary on Imperial settlement and expansion within the area.

The nature and limits of the rift may be determined by different criteria in different regions.

The Great Ilelish Main[edit]

The subsector marks the spinward terminus of the Great Ilelish Main. The Main has 104 member worlds and runs between Verge and Ilelish Sectors.

Politics & Diplomacy[edit]

The more prominent members of the Imperial heirarchy of Likagemika Subsector include:

Duchies

  • Duke Arlon M'dele of Turin is an outsider, appointed to the position as one of Strephon's earliest acts. Duke Arlon has served proudly and well despite the rumors around such a backwater appointment. His pride has kept him in office for longer than expected, though he is known to visibly fret over the readiness of his son to take his place.

Counties

  • Count Timoty Pelakash of Daddash is another middle-aged but energetic noble. This is a defensive mechanism on his part, as his wife and heirs were lost in a freak accident in 1099, and he has not yet managed to move on from that. He made one trip to Capital following the accident and has vowed to not ever spend that much time on a ship away from home again. He has assured his Duke and his staff that his successor has been arranged, but keeps the details strictly to himself.
  • Countess Baylinn Regishi of Ekin is a smart and steely facilitator with a soft center. Known as – though never referred to in person – as the Countess of Cats, she keeps a surprisingly large number of Terran felines as pets and is rarely without one in her company. She also has three young sons, but somewhat scandalously has never married.
  • Count Akiida Temad of Turin works alongside the Duke and other Counts when present, but is also their designated Moot proxy, and spends a fair amount of time travelling to and from Capital. A sturdy and voluble politician, he is well regarded across the sector.

Viscounties

  • Viscount Alann Shushursii of Oktar sees a full County for his heirs, and has spent much of his career encouraging development on Oktar that would lead to the population growth that would get his children that promotion. He is not subtle, however, and the government of Oktar has been pushing back.
  • Viscountess Eindelle Khuurshukug of Kriskus, on the other hand, works with her partners on Kriskus and economic ties elsewhere to keep the world alive. Kriskus is a cruel home, and its inhabitants have little patience for frivolity. Unfortunately there is little of strategic or economic importance here, making improvement difficult. Viscountess Eindelle is tenacious even by the standards of her homeworld, and more patient by far.

Technically, the Counts of Sigag and Tremfara, far out into the Great Rift, are under the supervision of the Duke of Likagemika, but in practice this is only a concern if they need assistance.

Ilelish Interstellar Information.jpg

News Coverage
Ilelish Interstellar Information Interchange (I4), the leading news and media organization within the sector, keeps close tabs on the activities and personal lives of the rich and titled and their various courtiers. Shows, broadcasts, and articles covering all of the politics, gossip, and scandal are widely available across a variety of formats. It is in open competition with other smaller media companies to be the first to get the top stories.

  • While I4's style of jounalism is generally considered intrusive and sensationalist, the organization broadly supports the Imperial nobility, recognising the importance of the revenue stream that it generates.
  • There are rumors of "understandings" between various parties and of some troubling stories being quashed.
