Lemote is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a member of the Dependent Worlds in the Cradle Subsector of Halcyon Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.
- Lemote is a Voluntarily Regressive World
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.

System Data[edit]
Wanda-Lemote System[edit]
The primary is Wanda, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.67 Sols, a mass of 0.94 Sols, and a diameter of 1.266 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world and (II) a dense atmosphere stormworld. (III) Lemote orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) an exotic atmosphere stormworld, (V) a trace atmosphere iceworld, and (VI) a vacuum iceworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(III) Lemote[edit]
(III) Lemote is designated the mainworld. It orbits Wanda at a mean distance of 0.7 AU (104.6 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 220 days 15 hours and a rotation period of 27.5 hours. The axial tilt is 23 degrees. Lemote has a diameter 9,715 km, a density of 6.02 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.83 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Dense, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 2.03 bar and a composition of 69% nitrogen (N2), 30% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the high percentage of atmospheric oxygen. Approximately 39% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.25m. Mean surface temperature: 22°C. The atmosphere is dynamic and strong weather systems driven by the star and the seas sweep across the globe. The climate is seasonal.
Satellite[edit]
Lemote retains a single natural satellite, a cratered vacuum worldlet named Ness:
- (IIIa) Ness (UWP Y200000-0, orbiting at 14 Diameters/135,000 km)
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
Total surface area: 297 million km², Land surface area: 181 million km², Water surface area: 116 million km².
Native lifeforms[edit]
The hot stormworld lying in orbital position (II) (within the H– region of the inner system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and moisture. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
Lemote, the mainworld, has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
- A former member of the Corolian Jurisdicture.
World starport[edit]
Lemote has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level[edit]
Lemote possesses a Technology Level of TL–4.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone and telegraphs, widespread printing.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Trains and early automobiles.
- Water: Clippers and steam ships.
- Air: Dirigibles, balloons, very basic rockets.
World government[edit]
Lemote is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
