Kull is an icy, low-population vacuum world, with a population less than 10,000 sophonts in population size, warranting hazardous environment precautions.
- Its surface is ice-capped with little or no atmosphere and nearly all of its water frozen.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Natar Subsector of Far Home Sector.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.

System Data[edit]
Crichton-Villein-Kull System[edit]
The primary is Crichton, a small red subdwarf star. It has a luminosity of 0.0056 Sols, a mass of 0.124 Sols and a diameter of 229,000 km. Villein, its dwarf companion, orbits at a mean separation of 150,000 km. It has a luminosity of 0.00003 Sols, a mass of 1.11 Sols and a diameter of 8,400 km. (I) a large gas giant, (II) a ringed large gas giant, (III) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (IV) Runda, a small gas giant: (IVc) Kull is its outer moon and is designated the mainworld, (V) an exotic atmosphere radworld, (VI) a vacuum worldlet, (VII) a vacuum iceworld, and (VIII) an insidious atmosphere bigworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
(IV) Runda[edit]
(IV) Runda is a small gas giant that orbits Crichton at a mean distance of 1.09 AU (163 million km), within the outer system, and has an orbital period of 3 years 85 days. It has a diameter of 39,000 km and an atmosphere consisting of 89% hydrogen (H2), 11% helium (He), and less than 1% methane (CH4), carbon monoxide (CO), ammonia (NH3), water vapor (H2O) and other trace gases. It is a mottled blue-green color with huge semi permanent equatorial storms. It retains a family of three major satellites.
Satellites[edit]
Runda retains three major satellites:
- (IVa) Shan (UWP Y100000-0, orbiting at 8 Diameters/310,000 km)
- (IVb) Kesh (UWP Y100000-0, orbiting at 9 Diameters/350,000 km)
- (IVc) Kull (designated the mainworld, orbiting at 20 Diameters/780,000 km)
Mainworld Data[edit]
(IVc) Kull[edit]
(IVc) Kull is the outer of the three major moons of (IV) Runda and is designated the mainworld. It orbits its parent world at a mean distance of 20 diameters (780,000 km), with an orbital period of 97 days 16 hours: it is tidally locked to Runda. The axial tilt is 6 degrees relative to Runda. Kull has a diameter of 2,974 km, a density of 4.81 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.21 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Runda cause occasional geological activity. Its atmosphere is rated as Vacuum. Approximately 22% of the surface is covered in a crust of crystalline water-ice. Mean surface temperature: -158°C.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
Total surface area: 28 million km², Land surface area: 22 million km², Ice surface area: 6 million km².
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Crichton-Villein-Kull System[edit]
No world in the system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
No information yet available.
World starport[edit]
Kull has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level[edit]
Kull possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Advanced automobiles.
- Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
- Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
- Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World government[edit]
Kull has no central government for the world, an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
