Khaolr is a preindustrial, moderate population water world with over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size.

  • Its surface is 90% or more covered in an ocean of water.
  • The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
  • As a preindustrial world, this planet cannot yet manufacture enough high-technology resources to support a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by Aslan sophonts located in the Trichal Subsector of Mavuzog Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)[edit]

Khaolr is a binary star system.

  • The primary is a yellow main sequence named Terash.
  • The secondary is a red subdwarf named Aiwaor.

System Data[edit]

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Extended system data is available.

Mainworld Data[edit]

The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zones prime H region.
  • It receives moderate levels of stellar energy.

Mainworld Size (S)[edit]

Khaolr is a Big World between 13,600km and 15,200km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 1G and 1.3G. The horizon will appear about 5.4km away. Vessels with only 1G of thrust should avoid landing on this world.

  • The world experiences frequent seismic and geological activity.
  • Many islands and archipelagos are volcanic.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)[edit]

Khaolr has a pressure of 1.50 to 2.49 atmospheres. While a Dense Atmosphere requires no survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)[edit]

Khaolr has 95-100% of its surface covered by liquid water with only a few islands and archipelagos. Wilderness refueling is possible. Such worlds are Water Worlds or Ocean Worlds.

  • The vast oceans are storm-wracked and turbulent.

Satellites:[edit]

Khaolr retains two vacuum moons named Asuilar and Khoireal.

  • The worlds orbit once every few weeks.

  • Far more detailed maps are available locally.
  • Verified updated charts are constantly sought.
  • Detailed survey data commands premium prices.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Abundant aquatic native life occupying every available ecological niche. Its metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Khaolr is relatively busy, with a growing economy and improving standards of living. It became the site of a major Aslan colony following the arrival of large numbers of Ihatei during the 1060s. The world had previously been identified as a potential colonization site by Aslan scouts and pioneers.

  • The world falls under the broad purview of the Seieakh and Aokhalte clans.
  • The resources of the mainworld are being exploited.

It is the homeworld of the Iluk'uu.

  • They are large ocean-dwelling pack chasers with bio-electrical sensitivity, a sophisticated society, and an ancient culture rich in traditions and rights.
  • Caution is advised regarding activity in ancestrally important coastal regions (see The Trial of the Hermigon for further details).
  • There is ongoing hostility between the Iluk'uu and the Aslan settlers.
  • First contact occurred millennia ago.

A number of businesses, organizations, and private interests are active within the system.

  • Commercial traffic is relatively frequent: ships occasionally arrive and depart.
  • Commo is filled with signals and private chatter. Communications are in Trokh.
  • One or two commercial navigation beacons will be active.
  • A vessel or two may be operating among the other worlds and moons that make up the system.

Note that social data, though only 40 years old, may be out of date.

  • Verified updated data is constantly sought.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Khaolr has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

  • Ocean refuelling is strongly discouraged.

World Demographics (P)[edit]

Khaolr has a population of 700 million.

  • Around 650 million are Iluk'uu.
  • Around 50 million are Aslan settlers.

Urbanization[edit]

Iluk'uu Territories
Vast oceanic domains, with occasional seabed settlements and industrial complexes.

  • Most Iluk'uu live a nomadic life, following prey species.
  • Coastal regions are the sites of ancestral spawning grounds.

Aslan Settlement
Multiple large urban centers are located on major landmasses and islands.

  • Inhabited areas are dotted across the world.

All buildings are constructed in the distinctive curved style of the Aslan.

  • The oldest surface structures on the world are no more than 50 years old.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Khaolr possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.

World Government (G)[edit]

Khaolr is governed by one of the major Aslan Clans. The local clans owe fealty to one of these clans, taking direction on policy from the clan leadership.

World Military[edit]

Approximately 3.5 million personnel in total, consisting of Iluk'uu soldiers who defend their vast ocean territories and Aslan warriors who protect their island settlements.

World Economy[edit]

  • Resources: 7 (few)
  • Labor: 7 (tens of millions)
  • Infrastructure: 2 (extremely limited)
  • Efficiency: +1 (average)

Trade Data[edit]

  • Importance: -2 (very unimportant)

World Culture[edit]

  • Homogeneity: 7 (discordant)
  • Acceptance: 6 (aloof)
  • Strangeness: 9 (extremely confusing)
  • Symbols: 6 (somewhat concrete)
