Description (Specifications)

Javelin class Destroyers were designed for service with the Bain Defense Squadron, the space force of Bain, a world lying in Spica Sector and a member of both the Boötean Federation and the Solomani Confederation. Though Javelins are tiny by the standards of most Solomani Confederation vessels they are occasionally called upon for Boötean and Confederation service, where their speed, small size and inconspicuous nature are an advantage.

1.	Tonnage / Hull	The Javelin class is constructed using a 345 Ton hull built in a Close Structure configuration. The hull is partially streamlined, giving a relatively limited atmospheric performance that is reliant on its onboard gravitic systems. There are 3 airlocks located around the vessel. The cargo hold is accessed by a hatch. The vessel has sturdy retractable legs, allowing surface landings.
2.	Crew	x21 personnel. Pilot, Commander/Navigator, Medic, x4 Engineers, x2 Gunners and x12 Marines. Accommodations There are x10.5 Staterooms. All quarters are double occupancy. In practice, the marines are assigned four staterooms fitted with triple bunks, releasing one stateroom for single occupancy by the ship's commander and one stateroom for service as a medical bay. There are x4 Low Berths. These are adjacent to the medical bay tended by the vessel's medic. Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems. There are internal monitoring and security systems throughout the vessel. Individual sections of the hull can be sealed off. There are multiple emergency lockers.
3.	Performance	The vessel mounts a Jump-1 drive, a Maneuver-6 drive, and a Power Plant-6, giving performance of Jump-1 and 6-G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 4 and an emergency agility of 6. The internal fuel tankage is sufficient for two consecutive Jump-1s and gives the power plant 4 weeks duration. The engineering section has a main control room. The jump drive utilizes a hull grid. The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.
4.	Electronics	Adjacent to the bridge is a Model/4fib computer: no backup computer is installed. There are multiple workstations and control points throughout the vessel. The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, a standard sensor array, and has an Avionics suite. It has a transponder unit that can be deactivated on command. It is equipped with a sophisticated ECM package.
5.	Hardpoints	x3 hardpoints. The listed battery groupings are standard configurations for the class. Alternative battery groupings may be designated for specific missions.
6.	Armament	The normal weapons fit-out for a Javelin class is: x1 triple Beam Laser turret, forming its own battery. x2 triple Missile turrets, typically grouped into a single battery of 2 linked turrets.
7.	Defenses	The hull is plated, structurally reinforced, and built with secure bulkheads and compartments that give it a High Guard armor rating of 2. The vessel is not fitted with screens or other passive defensive systems.
8.	Craft	Vehicles x1 4-Ton Grav APC. Drop Capsules There are x2 Drop Capsule tubes and their associated loading equipment. There is dedicated holding space containing an additional 10 Drop Capsules.
9.	Fuel Treatment	The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 89.7 Tons. The hull is fitted with fuel scoops. The vessel is equipped with a fuel purification plant that can refine all onboard fuel in a few hours: the plant is operated and maintained by the engineering crew.

History & Background (Dossier)

Javelin class Escort Corvettes were designed for service with the Bain Defense Squadron, the space force of Bain, an advancing Solomani world lying in Spica Sector. They are generally used for patrol duties and as a transport for a squad of Bain Marines. The squad have drop capsules for rapid deployment and a Grav APC to support operations. Four low berths are available for extra troops, for medical emergencies or for prisoners.
