Description (Specifications)[edit]

Telepathic consensus-making and direction, combined with a weak sense of "self", provide an amount of cohesion to Sred*Ni society unknown in Human experience, even among the psionic Zhodani, making comparisons and comprehension of actual government and social processes unreliable.

Outsiders aren't privy to the details of the Protectorate’s governing structure. It seems to function through a series of specialized bureaus.

It is known that there is a caste system of sorts, and a hierarchy to the castes, the three i-Zreen "classes".

  • Primary: Leader, Sage, and Healer castes
  • Secondary: Merchant, Hunter, and Warrior castes
  • Tertiary: Breeder and Technician castes

Any decision appears to require consensus (at least partially telepathic) between all but the Breeder caste. This makes the actual utility of the i-Zreen hierarchy within their society difficult to understand. Nor is it known why the Breeders aren't part of decision making while the equally low Technicians are.

Military[edit]

The Protectorate's military focuses on strong defense, with squadrons of massive asteroid-hull monitors and swarms of system defense boats. Offensive or external jump-capable forces are very few in comparison.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Timeline[edit]

  • -97: The first discourse between the Protectorate and other races, with contact between Sred*Ni and the Corellan League at I'Sred*Nispr.
  • 234: The Treaty of Waypoint is signed at the world later known as Tartakover (Beyond 1810), stabilizing relations between the Protectorate and the Corellan League.
  • 347: Establishment of a Protectorate embassy and trade enclave on the Corellan world of Shalukin (Beyond 1812).
  • 638: First contact with the Third Imperium through Corellan intermediaries at Shalukin
  • 648: The Web Edge Agreement establishes a second Protectorate embassy and trade enclave on Web Edge (Beyond 2514).
  • 694: In response to the establishment of an unauthorized human settlement on Distruit, the Protectorate destroys the colony with mass drivers; the world (and system) receives a new name -- Retribution (Beyond 2414)

Trade Relations[edit]

The Web Edge Consortium is the preferred means by which the Sred*Ni do business with outsiders.

Imperial, Aslan, Monarchy of Lod and other concerns are part of the related Web Edge Agreement.

For reasons unexplained, the Sred*Ni have always refused any participation by the Florian League.

Sred*Ni biological technology comprises much of the export goods channelled through the two Protectorate-approved interface ports.
