Hasadran is a non-agricultural and nonindustrial vacuum world, which warrants hazardous environment precautions.

  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
  • It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • It has few prospects for economic development.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Genesti Subsector of Far Home Sector.
  • This world-system hosts a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces, which may be located on or off-world.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

System Data[edit]

Chemuth-Hasadran System[edit]

The primary is Chemuth, a dim red main sequence star. Chemuth has a luminosity of 0.004 Sols, a mass of 0.273 Sols and a diameter of 389,000 km. (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) Orell, a ringed small gas giant: (IIa) Hasadran is its only major satellite and is designated the mainworld, and (III) a vacuum iceworld form the outer system. Only Orell retains a satellite.

Froth Subsystem[edit]

The companion is Froth, a dim red subdwarf star that lies approximately 5.6 AU (837.7 million km) from Chemuth. It has a luminosity of 0.0038 Sols, a mass of 0.114 Sols and a diameter of 187,000 km. (II) a large gas giant forms the outer system – orbital position (I) is empty. The gas giant retains satellites.

  • The two stars orbit a barycenter located at around 2.34 AU (orbital position (VI), 350.1 million km). They have an orbital period around one another of 30 years.

Mainworld Data[edit]

(II) Orell[edit]

(II) Orell is a ringed small gas giant that follows an elliptical orbit around Chemuth – it is pulled towards Froth by around 0.2 AU as it reaches perihelion with the companion star. Its mean orbital distance around Chemuth is 0.37 AU (55.3 million km) and it has an orbital period of 157 days 8 hours. It has a diameter of 31,000km, and an atmosphere consisting of 90% hydrogen (H2), 10% helium (He), and less than 1% methane (CH4), carbon monoxide (CO), ammonia (NH3), water vapor (H2O) and other trace gases. It is a pale blue color with narrow bands of white high altitude clouds. It retains a single major satellite. Orell has a spectacular icy ring system with two tiny "shepherd moons" (each with UWP YS00000-0) at its outer edge.

Satellites[edit]

Orell retains a spectacular icy ring system and one major satellite:

(IIr) Ring System (UWP YR00000-0, extending to 3 Diameters/95,000 km)
(IIa) Hasadran (designated the mainworld, orbiting at 25 Diameters/775,000 km)

(IIa) Hasadran[edit]

(IIa) Hasadran is the only major moon of (II) Orell and is designated the mainworld. It orbits its parent world at a mean distance of 25 diameters (775,000 km), with an orbital period of 22 days 11 hours: it is tidally locked to Orell. It has an axial tilt of 2 degrees relative to Orell. Hasadran has a diameter of 1,348 km, a density of 6.33 g/cm³ and a surface gravity of 0.12 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Orell cause occasional seismic activity. The atmosphere is rated as Vacuum. The world has no hydrosphere. Mean surface temperature: -190°C.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

Total surface area: 5.71 million km². Hasadran is a cratered, rugged ball of rock divided into reddish-brown stony uplands and dusty grey basins. A very few cratered regions have trace amounts of water-ice, most likely of cometary origin. Other regions have geologically active zones where there is geothermal heat and trace amounts of gases that have escaped from the interior. Minerals, compounds and radioactives can be found across the surface.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Chemuth-Hasadran System[edit]

No world in the system is known to have native life.

Froth Subsystem[edit]

No world in the subsystem is known to have native life.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

No information yet available.

World starport[edit]

Hasadran has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World technology level[edit]

Hasadran possesses a Technology Level of TL–11 or TL-B in Hexadecimal Notation.

World government[edit]

Hasadran is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.

World military[edit]

They have manufactured and deployed a small system defense boat squadron of five Wakatake class System Defense Boats.

World economy[edit]

World demographics[edit]

Population: 6,900,000

  • Native Non-Human Races:
    • Hoppers: 700,000 (10% of the population), concentrated within hive-cities in urban areas.
    • Temelik: 1000 (less than 0.01% of the population), widely dispersed among human communities and outposts.
