History & Background (Dossier)

Goertel is a rich, non-aligned world located in the Goertel Subsector of the Trojan Reach.

Goertel was originally settled by exiles from the First Imperium, but came under the control of Solomani during the Rule of Man. During the Sindalian Empire period Goertel was the headquarters of the Sindalian fleet and the subsector capital. Following the fall of the Empire, control of the planet was assumed by the Church of Nom, a messianic cult that actively encouraged psionics and discouraged space travel of any kind.

Goertel was conquered by the Glorious Empire in 556 and the Church of Nom was forced underground, with some priests fleeing to Delta Theta (Trojan Reach 1220) with several antique Sindalian warships. Aslan Hierate attacks on neighboring worlds distracted the Glorious Empire, allowing an uprising on Goertal to overthrow Aslan rule.
