Gisi has a very thin atmosphere and no surface water. The system has a population between 10 million and 100 million sophonts. This world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. This is a cold world with an overall climate is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.  This is a high technology world with available technology over the standards for Charted Space. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Iiradu Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Gisi, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world.

Astrography and planetology[edit]

Attached to Vilani Main, Gisi is a bit of a backwater, removed from the X-boat communication. It also doesn't have an abundance of natural resources.

A small, cold world with a very thin atmosphere, Gisi is tectonically stable. At some point in the past volcanic activity formed straovolcanoes. Crustal rifting led to the formation of massive canyon system, some stretch for 1000km or more and two km deep. The first colony cities were constructed at the bottom of these canyons. Gist's downport is located in the caldera of the one of the larger, but extinct, volcanoes. The peak is high enough to protrude from the planetary atmosphere, protecting the the vessels berthed there from the fine grit that plagues everything on the surface.

The planetary surface is inhospitable to humans without pressure suits, and prone to severe dust storms. The canyon systems are extensive and very difficult to monitor. Much of the canyons and tunnel has yet to be thoroughly explored.

History and background[edit]

Movement for the 73 million inhabitants is difficult. Most centers of population formed around industrial complexes, and the planet is divided into sectors, then subdivided into Zones. Movement between zones requires passes, which in turn requires paperwork and bribery. Movement between sectors is uncommon. A thriving black market exists for transit papers and goods.

Cabin fever is a problem for the long-term workers and there are many tales of people walking off into the desert in search of alien artifacts or hidden treasure. There have been rumors of evidence of other races inhabiting the world, though no concrete evidence has been discovered.

The major industry on Gisi is the manufacture of refining equipment and electro-optical gear for starships.
