- This world has a nearby Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
Description (Planetology)[edit]
Gemid is a resource-poor but highly populated and industrialized Imperial Client state, an important world located on the Vilani Main in Anarsi Subsector of Vland Sector.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Imperials rarely visit except to purchase its famous high tech weaponry, especially neurotoxins.
Point of Interest: Ritual Senicide[edit]
Its high population and scarce resources have led to the custom of ritual killing of the elderly. Before a person can have children, his own parents must be dead, and if they are not dead when a child is born, they are expected to be killed shortly after the new birth. Culturally, Gemidians adapt to this custom in various ways. It is common for married couples to wait until they are in their forties or fifties before starting a family (this is possible thanks to Gemid's high medical technology). Children of important figures in society may hold off having children of their own until the parent has died a natural death.
Vargr Occupation[edit]
In 210-1119, Gemid's Naval Base was captured by Vargr from the Vargr Extents and Gemid was overrun. The TL-16 facility and its experimental tech is a dire concern of the Restored Vilani Empire of the Stars. The current fate of the world-system is unknown.
