Description (Specifications)[edit]

The primary language is the Solomani-derived Galian.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Formed in 925 from portions of the Galian Trade League, the Galian Federation is the heir of that earlier polity. This followed internal revolts in the Trade League between approximately 300 and 800.

The Galian Federation is considerably smaller than the earlier Trade League, having lost systems that now compose the Plavian League, Trindel Confederacy, Viyard Concourse, and Mische Conglomerate. Following several regional wars, culminating in the Battle of Coralee in 754, the Treaty of Umbrin (758) was signed establishing the independence of these groups.

Since the late 700's the Galian Federation has been involved in numerous disputes and small wars with these neighboring polities over control of nearby unaligned systems.

Military & Intelligence (Force Projection)[edit]

The primary weakness of the Galian armed forces is their lack of strategic mobility. The Federation is only capable of building jump-1 vessels but most of its systems are at jump-2 distance from their neighbours. Force projection outside of Galian space is painfully slow, and there is great caution in committing any major force lest it wind up in the wrong place at too great a distance to respond to changing circumstances. It is speculated that a few ships might have been fitted with higher-quality drives obtained from their Third Imperium trade partners, but no confirmation is available.

Gateway (Ga 1220) (world), the asteroid belt capital of the federation, produces a class of TL–11, Gateway class Heavy Cruiser. They also use a class of fast Buigoon class Destroyers, in patrol flotillas.

The Qasar class Scout Cruisers Demar Diapaan and Swanalla Welschew were transferred to the Galian Navy in 980. The ships were renamed Galian Delta and Galian Prime respectively. Due to their high Jump capability, they were refitted as rapid-reaction Marine transports.

C. Special Forces: 1105[edit]

The federation uses small Galian Federation Strike Marine Battalions for lightning raids from close orbit over vital targets, to knock out enemy command and control centers.
