Gaajpadje is a pre-agricultural, moderate population rich garden world with over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size.

  • Garden worlds are known for their near-ideal utopian environments conducive to most sophonts, plants, animals, and other forms of life.
  • It is a pre-agricultural world with an environment suitable for large scale agricultural and livestock industries that have not yet been widely developed.
  • This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
  • Its economy and population are rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to quickly rise barring outside forces.
  • This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Ea Subsector of Reaver's Deep Sector.
  • This world sometimes uses an alternate orthography of Gaajpadge.
  • The planet is notable as the homeworld of the J'aadje, a sophontic species and a Minor Race.
  • 60% of the population is composed of J'aadje.
  • About 40% of the population is composed of humans and other sophonts.
  • This world has a significant population of Aslan.

Native Sophont (NIL): J'aadje[edit]

The J'aadje population is governed by the Gaajpadjet Oligarchs who rule the balkanized city-states of the J'aadje Nations.

  • Inhabiting the East Continent are the K'Tring, a militaristic Human Ethnic Group.
  • Tensions between these two groups of inhabitants continue to run high.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

A valuable trade site for gems, hand-crafted art objects, and collectibles, Gaajpadje is a non-aligned world and was rarely visited by humans until about 1090, when Caledon Ventures opened trade negotiations with the J'aadje.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Gaajpadje has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

900,000,000

Demographics[edit]

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Gaajpadje possesses a Technology Level of TL–4.

J'aadje industrial process tends to appear clean and ecologically sound, but this is mostly a matter of surface show in accordance with cultural values of elegance, rather than an actual lack of pollution. Appearance of cleanliness is more important than true concern for the environment.

Recently, some J'aadje have taken to demonstrating their refinement and status through mastery of offworld technology.

World Government (G)[edit]

Gaajpadje has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

The recurrent pattern of J'aadje history is a new city-state rising on the basis of an advantage in agriculture, trade, or technology, falling under the sway of a prince or council, and expanding aggressively, forcing neighbouring cities into alliance until equilibrium is restored. Over centuries, this pattern became almost formalised in itself. Eventually, the port city of Rijudjya gained a special status in the West Continent, becoming the "ceremonial capital" where oligarchs could meet, sign treaties, and attempt to assert Ku'densharll (status, elegance, prestige) over each other.

Urbanization[edit]

J'aadje cities tend to lay out streets in a regular pattern of concentric semi-hexagons, connected by radial roads extending from harbor areas. These streets are narrow by Human standards, except in commercial and industrial districts; most traffic is pedestrian, but some large animal-drawn drays are occasionally used to haul heavy goods to and from waterfronts and airship ports. Most buildings are a single story, except for architectural showpieces.

World Culture[edit]

Cultural pursuits include the artistic forms of J'jaajad and Wah.

Military[edit]

Unfortunately, promotion is often based on a military variety of Ku'densharll rather than actual competence. This is one reason why the K'Tring have often managed to defeat the J'aadje in battle, especially when several city-states were trying to coordinate their forces.
