Description (Specifications)

The Assault Transport is a solid, reliable vessel designed to transport vehicles, supplies, and equipment into dangerous areas. Similar designs have been in use from the time the Distant Fringe was first settled.

1.	Tonnage / Hull	The Fearless class is constructed using a 300 dTon hull built in a flattened sphere-shaped configuration. The hull has an airframe construction and has airfoil surfaces, giving improved atmospheric performance that is further enhanced by its onboard gravitic systems. Individual sections of the ship are divided by bulkhead walls. There are multiple airlocks located around the vessel. The cargo hold is accessed by doors and has a loading ramp. The vessel has sturdy retractable legs, allowing surface landings.
2.	Crew	Total Crew Complement: x7 x2 Command, x1 Engineering, x3 Gunnery, x1 Service Crew. Accommodations There are x7 Staterooms. x7 Staterooms are given over to crew quarters. All crewmembers have individual cabins. Accessible areas of the hull are fitted with grav plates and inertial compensators and have full life support and environmental systems. The vessel has a secure locker with a capacity of 1 dTon. There are internal monitoring and security systems throughout the vessel. Sections of the ship can be isolated in the event of an emergency. There are multiple Emergency Lockers.
3.	Performance	The vessel mounts a Maneuver-5 drive and a Power Plant-5, giving performance of 5-G acceleration and producing 15 Energy Points. The ship has an agility rating of 5. The internal fuel tankage gives the power plant 4 weeks duration. The engineering section has a main control room. Ladders, gantries and platforms give access to the machinery.
4.	Electronics	Adjacent to the bridge is a Model/2 Computer: a backup Model/2 Computer is installed. There are multiple workstations and control points throughout the vessel. The vessel is fitted with communications equipment, an advanced sensor array, and has an avionics suite. It is fitted with backup commo and sensor systems. It has a transponder unit that can be deactivated on command.
5.	Hardpoints	x3 hardpoints. The listed battery groupings are considered standard for the class. Alternative battery groupings may be designated for specific missions.
6.	Armament	The normal weapons fit-out for an Assault Transport is: x1 triple Missile turret, forming its own battery. Each missile rack mounts x3 standard Anti-Shipping Missiles.
7.	Defenses	The hull is plated and structurally reinforced, with an armor rating of 7. x2 triple Sandcaster turrets, grouped into one battery of 2 linked turrets The vessel is not fitted with screens or other passive defensive systems.
8.	Craft	The vessel carries no subcraft.
9.	Fuel Treatment	The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 15 dTons. The hull is fitted with fuel scoops. The vessel is equipped with fuel purification equipment.
10.	Cost	The basic cost of the vessel is MCr185.950. If multiple examples of the design are ordered all of the ships in the production run qualify for a 20% discount, which reduces the price per unit to MCr148.760. The vessel is a standard design. Detailed architectural plans are widely available and no design fee is chargeable.
11.	Construction Time	56 weeks (14 months) as standard. Build times can be reduced by mass production and the efficiencies such processes generate, by increased financing, and by allotting additional shipyard resources and facilities to the construction contract.
12.	Comments	Standard cargo capacity amounts to 70 dTons. The cargo hold can be sealed and has independent life support and environmental systems. Sections of the hold may be isolated if desired and can be provided with specialized environmental conditions.

History & Background (Dossier)

The Fearless class is an interface craft primarily designed to carry vehicles and equipment between close orbit and a worlds surface. It is also used as an in-system transport, carrying equipment and supplies to secondary worlds within a system. The design is representative and a large number of variants exist, particularly with regard to the allotted weapons systems, onboard electronics, and the fit out of internal spaces.

Assault Transports may be deployed by vessels such as the Marius class Ship Transporter.
