Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]

Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]

Basic Ship Characteristics [2]
No. Category Remarks
1. Tonnage / Hull 75000 tons.

The Bulk Carrier is constructed using a 75000 dTon hull built in a dispersed structure configuration. The hull is unstreamlined.

  • Individual sections of the ship are divided by bulkhead walls. Sections of the ship can be isolated in the event of an emergency.
  • The hull includes internal grav plates and inertial compensators. All accessible sections of the hull have life support.
2. Crew xTBD crew.

The Bulk Carrier requires x348 crew: 38x command, 53x engineering, 30x gunnery, and 225x service, of which 33 double up as flight crew for the subcraft as required. In addition, the vessel carries a passenger steward and a medic.

3. Performance Propulsion:

The vessel mounts a DeVoss-type Jump-1 drive, a Maneuver-1 drive, and a Power plant 1, giving performance of Jump-1 and 1G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 0 and an emergency agility of 1. There is fuel tankage of 8250 dTons, sufficient for one Jump-1 and giving the power plant four weeks duration.

  • The engineering section has a main control room.
  • The jump drive creates a jump bubble around the vessel.
  • The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.
4. Electronics Model/5 computer.

Adjacent to the bridge is a computer model/5: the vessel carries an additional backup computer model/5. There are 200 staterooms and 500 low berths, primarily used to transport livestock. Double occupancy accommodations are required for all except the command crew. 7 staterooms are available to paying passengers. Cargo capacity amounts to 55600 dTons.

  • The vessel is fitted with communications equipment and a sensor suite.
5. Hardpoints 750 hardpoints.
6. Armament The normal weapons fit-out for it is:
  • The ship is fitted with 4x 100 dTon bays and 160 turrets. These are grouped into:
  • Four missile batteries, each consisting of a single bay weapon
  • Twelve sandcaster batteries, each consisting of 10 linked triple turrets
  • Seven beam laser batteries, each consisting of 10 linked triple turrets

There are 520 unused hardpoints but no additional space is set aside for fire control.

7. Defenses No information yet available.
8. Craft The ship carries two 1200 dTon Heavy Landers and a 40 dTon Ship’s Boat, each housed in a designated berthing position.
9. Fuel Treatment None
10. Cost MCr20549.372

The basic cost of the vessel, complete with its complement of subcraft, is MCr20549.372.

  • All the craft are standard designs. Detailed architectural plans are widely available and no design fee is chargeable.
  • If multiple examples of the design are ordered all of the ships in the production run qualify for a 20% discount, which reduces their price to MCr16439.498.
11. Construction Time TBD months to build, TBD months in quantity.
12. Comments TBD
  • Standard cargo capacity amounts to 55,600 tons.

History & Background[edit]

The design is representative and a large number of variants exist, particularly with regard to the allotted weapons systems, onboard electronics, and the fit out of internal spaces.
