Durward has a pressure of 0.71 to 1.49 atmospheres. While a Standard Atmosphere does not require survival gear this atmosphere also contains an unusual taint such as such as disease, a hazardous gas mix, pollutants, or sulfur compounds which requires the use of a Filter Mask. Some taints may require more protective equipment. TL–3 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Durward has 65-75% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

Durward has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

Durward has a population of 2,000,000,000 sophonts (billions).

• High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
• Around 1.4 billion Suerrat (making up around 70% of the population) reside on the world.

Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.

Durward has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. • -9235: the Vilani discover jump drive technology. Over many centuries, pioneers and settlers gradually spread out from Vland, their homeworld.
• prior to -8100: a Suerrat pre-Jump multi-world civilization flourishes, centered on Ilelish.
• circa -8100: The Vilani make contact with the Suerrat and sell them jump technology.
• prior to -5400: the Suerrat have established a multi-world polity using jump drives. It would become one of the first targets of the Vilani Consolidation Wars.
• -4045 to -2204: the Ziru Sirka controls the world.
• -2404 to -2215: the Interstellar Wars.
• -2204 to -1776: the Rule of Man administers the worlds of the region.
• -1776 to 0: the Long Night. There is widespread regression within the sector and some worlds become barren.
