Duesaenlaell is a high-population world with a billion or more sophonts in population size. The world has a colony on Oaerrgdhougoug (Knoellighz 2725). The world has a colony on Theerruks (Knoellighz 3026). This system serves as the capital for the subsector. This world is also the overall capital of an interstellar government with the extra trade and prestige associated with that role. It is a member of Democracy of Greats in the Goengsakh Subsector of Knoellighz Sector.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Duesaenlaell (Knoellighz 2729) of the Democracy of Greats is found on the Rimward border of the polity in Goensakh subsector. Blessed with six planetoid belts and a couple of Gas Giants, this system is a valuable mecca of resource gathering, refining, and production. With such bounty claimed by the Greats in its position in a 22-world, Jump-1 main and held by a powerful Vargr Great, DUESAENLAELL hold one of the polity’s prolific ship construction industries among other markets that need such a wide variety of vessels.
The mainworld of Deusaenlaell is a comfortable Terra-like size and gravity, but the thin atmosphere is at least merciful on the generous 0.7 atmospheres of pressure. The planet is 80% rivers, lakes, bays, seas and oceans marked by minor island continents. Yet despite its difference from a Terra standard, the planet is on the comfortable side of its deficiencies. On sea-level surface, inhabitants can easily adapt to the thin, cleaner (as of recent times) air providing exertions are not too taxing.
This subsector Capital also holds the title of polity Capital, mainly due to the former Agricultural (Ag) rating the planet’s bountiful land ranching and ocean farming and fishing yields. Weather is relatively gentle but minor and frequent tropical storms and hurricanes crop up in warm summers. The populace prided itself at such food overstock that a need for export to the greater, Jump-1 main became lucrative. This same outreach is what pushed the Population of the system over one billion and surged to six billion, causing the loss of the Trade Code in favor of two others, (Hi and In). With the loss of the Agricultural code, the change to High-Population and Industrial designations enraged farmers, ranchers, fishers to split from the main government and form a faction of their own. Thus Duesaenlaell became Balkanized.
This threatened the world’s titles of subsector and polity Capital. Since the Democracy of Greats was already turning Coreward on the Bridge of Destiny, projections told locals that soon the empire would leave behind this system to “tail end” dynamics. To curtail this erosion of economic value, the Industrial factions used their High-Tech systems and construction to migrate assembly plants and process manufacturing facilities to orbit and the greater system’s moons, belt planetoids, LaGrange points and over the twin Gas Giants. This halted further, industry-based pollution and calmed the agricultural producers’ protests over the loss of the Ag code. With orbital platforms, the Highport, shipyards, trade hubs, refueling depots, and mainstreaming system traffic, Duesaenlaell regained some of its glory as a shipbuilding and logistics powerhouse. With the Downport slowly risking downgrade to a spaceport since surface-to-orbit shuttle commuting at an all-time high, the agricultural faction compromised just a little. By modifying the Downport starship yards, the agricultural faction was able to design, construct and advertise amphibious hulls at TL 13 coupled with standard models of Jump-1 drives, allowing for greater hauls from the seas and oceans. Direct pickup of coastal yields allowed both refueling, purification of water and taking on cargoes by bypassing berthing fees and refueling taxes.
With so many win-win innovations, Duesaenlaell managed to hold onto its subsector Capital code, though the Greats meeting on Rroekhsuek (Knoellighz 2414) continue to review the offers from other worlds to host the empire’s Capital, (Cp), code. While the polity pushes ever Coreward and grating against the "Crystal Wall" of the Zhodani Consulate, ships are needed and this world aims to supply. Despite the shakeup of planetary government into two low-growl factions, the system has fine-tuned its economy and logistics.
Necessary Law
With the improvements and the Balkanization, the world’s Law level was forced by necessity from 6 to 8. Sequentially, the orbital Highport is the only extraterritoriality zone available to travelers. Bladed weapons and stunners are banned so that violence is forced to make a decision between Infighting, (hopefully non-lethal), or lethal weapons. Citizens have to make a conscious decision and think twice about unholstering a pistol or shotgun, especially in space.
Psionics Purity
Psionics from Zhodani-tainted sources are expressly illegal as is any psi-technology from the Consulate, (or its allies). Vargr psionics is given some leeway and actually favored as the Democracy of Greats correctly projected that they cannot eliminate fully all Wild Talents and their Mentored apprentices from the empire. Cost of attempting such run too high and other matters have a higher priority to the Charismatic Greats.
Cultural Differences
Two cultural details stand out having developed since the Balkanization of Deusaenlaell.
- Societal Split – Agricultural and ecological preservationists on land and in shallow, domed, aquatic cities are estranging from the progressive, capitalist, mercantile industrialists who are already migrating offworld to orbital or in-system environments. Grounders and spacers are increasingly finding a gap in mindsets despite newfound workarounds in-system.
- Liberal – Spacer industrialists are becoming welcoming to change and imported influences and innovations are given attention, often to see if there is a new market in the making. Traders can expect more than one Broker to appear in the berth gantry if there is something uniquely new to present to the markets.
Llaeook Fruit
In the coastal reefs on the wide continental shelves grows a seaweed stalk tree from the photic zone floor. Reaching up to the surface, this plant produces multiple fruits up its thick, rubbery stem. The fruits grow to an average of 30cm in diameter and are citrus in their meat underneath a waterproof, zesty skin. The fruits are watery and have no saline content, thus are buoyant. Separating from the stalk, they float to the surface to be consumed by large fish, wash up on sandy shores to be eaten by terrestrial beasts. Seeds are found in the excrement of fauna and those that remain in the coastal waters precipitate to the seabed floor to grow into new stalks. Vargr of Deusaenlaell find this juicy, citrus Llaeook fruit a delicacy to go with their meat diet. Zests from the waterproof skins make quick seasoning to meats are also found in recipes in meat preparation.
